Man ferry inherited a ty cap situation. The joe Johnson contract alone will limit what he can do. That is Kobe in his prime money! I mean, that price of is worse than Eric Dampier's deal from back in the day.

It might be worth it to amnesty JJ. Either way, you're stuck paying him, but with him off the cap, you can actually improve and rebuild.

the ownership as recently as the last year was trying to sell the team. what makes you think they would happily absorb the 120 million contract loss?

once you amensty someone doesnt the other team pay offer
i could see johnson getting around 8-10 mil still if teams are bidding on him
then atl only has to pay 9 of the 19 mil right

The remainder is about $88M, minus what some other team claims him for, which could be between 30 and 40M. If you keep him, you're on the hook for the whole thing, and your rebuilding is delayed 4 years by his horrendous cap figure.
