It was my doing. Other than last year, we've always moved these threads into the main forum a few days before the draft before returning them once the draft is over. Then come the FA threads . . .
    Makes perfect sense. Thanks.

Former Ohio State star and two-time all-American Jared Sullinger will watch the NBA draft inside a Columbus restaurant, not in the green room in Newark's Prudential Center, after the NBA declined to invite him to Thursday's draft.

NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson told ESPN.com that Sullinger would not be invited based on the reports the league had received that Sullinger wouldn't be selected in the top 15.

"He's more likely to go in the teens or in the 20s," Jackson said. "We continue to have contact with teams, but at this late date we don't anticipate inviting him."

Damn, seems harsh - but you see how injuries (Blair ACL's) can cause talented bigs to fall. Especially backs. That is about as bad as it gets from an injury fear perspective. Still, late 20's? Might be worth a look if that is the case considering the odds of those picks sticking anyways. Plus, might be motivated to prove people wrong.

He does remind you a lot of Scola when he plays though (from the limited games I have seen and highlights), especially in the post. Very crafty and doesn't elevate very well, but gets his shots off at strange angles and using glass. Interesting kid.

Ask Portland about drafting medical red flags too high.

    Oden
    Roy
    Bayless

Teams are starting to "get it". Medical red flags are as likely to blow up in your face as character red flags.

Especially when its the man's back AND he's a big which means he will banging down low just a matter of time before it goes.

Ive heard Celtics want to package both their picks to move up
then SA could be involved in some kind of 3 team trade to get a pick and send back a player
If sullinger falls that low he would be a good player
but as long as pop is here make sure sullinger would only backup the king

A poor man's Kevin Love? I'll take that in a heartbeat. What 4/5 that can rebound and shoot the long ball wouldn't be considered a poor man's Kevin Love?

That's like calling someone a poor man's Kevin Durant.

Oden had no red flags. He played with a broken hand at tOSU...but that's not a red flag. He was the most "sure thing" to come through the draft in a while. To quote a draft profile: "Bound for a hall of fame career barring injury."

Don't recall Bayless having an injury history either.

Without ever playing an NBA game or sustaining an injury, he had to have post draft knee surgery and missed his entire rookie season. You think Portland didn't know something before he was drafted?

I only watched one game of Sullinger this year. I'd be willing to part with Green and Blair or Neal and Blair (in a heartbeat) (I'd even throw in Bonner, and this year and next years' 2nd rounders and a Whataburger).

We maybe need a gamble, and this kid can play (especially for at least a year).

In Sam Amick's composite scouting evaluation of 52 players yesterday, Sully was referred to as one of the best basketball players in the draft. The scouts were all anonymous, but whoever did this report said their team doctor did NOT red flag him.

I think he's going to have a very solid ZBo/Boozer type career. He's a plus interior scorer and a plus rebounder.

When I watched him mid-season, I was ready to give up Parker for him. Probably still willing to give up Splitter for him, but I still don't want to gamble too much (if he's there around 15, Green + Blair, etc., could no-risk pull off that coup).

Err, Neal + Blair, etc. (if Green would be considered a sign and trade)...

He wasn't invited to the draft Green Room, so no one is likely to take him in the lottery's 14 picks.

DX has him at 19. NBAD.net has him at 23. Teams are spooked by this back thing.

Thats what I thought. I seemed to remember Oden being one giant red flag.

Sad thing is, I thought Portland made the right move by drafting oden at that time because he was such a dominant force defensivley and Durant was/is so skinny that I wasn't sure if he was just going to get pushed around. Guess that's why I'm not a GM.

Anyways, I do like Sully too and if he were to fall to the 20's, somehow, then the Spurs should push hard to grab him. He has 3 point range and good post moves. Not mention a good defender, rebounder, and leader. He would be a great side kick to duncan for next (couple?) year(s).
