My dude. I would love this move.
Interesting tidbit in McDonald's article. They have also heavily scouted St. Bonaventure power forward Andrew Nicholson, who is expected to go toward the end of the first round.

A lot of us have been intrigued by Nicholson. He's a 6-foot-9.5 power forward from Canada who really came on strong at the end of his senior season at St. Bonaventure. Although he's a bit of a late bloomer, the intriguing thing about him is he can knock down three-pointers (43.4% as a senior) while also rebound and block shots. He's not the safest pick since he went to a small school and doesn't have a long history of excellence but on paper he fits the type of bigman the Spurs could use next to Duncan.
To get him, though, the Spurs would probably have to trade up to the ~25 range and hope he drops.
And it'd be quite apropos for someone from St. Bonaventure to be the death knell to Saint Bonner's adventure as a Spur.

My dude. I would love this move.
Would love it but I just don't want to get my hopes up on them making a move like this.
Nicholson's stock just went up 5 draft places. Dude won't even touch the 20s after gm's get ahold of this article.
Another Horry?
He said in a draft interview that he didn't start playing until the latter part of high school.
His interviews
He has Spurs written all over him. I'd love for the Spurs to get this guy.
Boston.
I remember seeing that his PER and WSP48 were all very high compared to most of the other prospects. Think this guy would be a good fit for our systerm. As i said in the Nicholson thread, He cant be worse than Bonner.
I also don't see why the spurs after being so quiet this entire off-season would let valuable information out to Jeff Mcdonald the day before the draft. It could just be a smoke-screen. That said, would love to have him.
Is this Bonner's twin we are talking about?![]()
CIA spurs doing CIA things tbh
Go for it. Get rid of Bonner, Blair, etc.....
bonners good evil/good twin whatever way you look at it

Came on strong at the end of the season
Moving Bonner for Memphis' #25 to get this guy would be nice tbh
The kid has great great footwork, is patient on the block, and can straight up shoot. He's got good enough wingspan and athletic enough to be a great defender.
Looking at him he's sort of similar to Randolph, with a better jump shot and obviously more athletic.
No Horry was horrible on the block. This guy can shoot and has great footwork. Liability on the defensive end because of his size? Who knows.
Two questions:
Who could Spurs offer to get a 20s pick? Neal, Blair, Bonner, Joesph?
Which team want to trade their 20s pick for these players? Cavs? Boston? Hawks?
Grizzlies want to sell their pick too.
Weird.
While Nicholson can very well be a player Spurs are interested in it, E-N leaking it is weird. It would mean that someone from Spurs FO has said it to them and have given them the green light to publish it. I don't see the E-N publishing that kind of news without Spurs full consent.
It could be very well a smokescreen which is too an interesting news. If you create a smokescreen, it means you have somethign to hide. Spurs could very well have targeted another player which will be drafted around Nicholson spot (late first).
...Fab Melo?
The Spurs DO need an athletic rim protecting big after all.
The problem with Melo is that he does literally nothing else.
Last year, few people connected Spurs with Leonard and Spurs finally got him.
In 2008, people talk about Batum would go to the Spurs and Spurs failed to pick him.
Spurs rarely told people who they would gonna pick, so I guess ...... nothing would happen?
I think Boston would pick this guy.
I like Moultrie better just based off his potential and athleticism, but Nicholson should be a fine role player in this league.
After several years of writing for the E-N, the Spurs finally trust McDonald enough to leak him smokescreens and rumors. I guess that's progress.
Nicholson certainly fits the profile of the type of player that the Spurs would target. I'm a bit su ious as to how and why this news got leaked. I smell a smokescreen.
Wojnarowski's report makes it sound like Nicholson probably won't drop far enough for the Spurs to realistically get him. While I like him in the 20s, trading up into the teens to get him is probably too big of a risk, IMO.St. Bonaventure forward Andrew Nicholson is unlikely to get past the Boston Celtics at Nos. 21 and 22, but the Houston Rockets (Nos. 12, 16 and 18) and Denver Nuggets (No. 20), also have interest in him sources said.
