I had this done last July. The real hassle about this is the visits and tests you have to go through before the surgery actually happens. Once you go in for the procedure, they tell you step by step what they're going to do, then ask you if you want a valium to settle you down. 20 minutes later, you're laying down, they place a glass type suction cup on your eye and open the lid. They "gloss" your eyeballs and hit the laser. They do that to the other eye as well.
The procedure itself will take a total of 10 minutes or so. The only thing that sucks is that you can smell the laser, which smells like burnt hair. Afterwards, they give you a load of eye drops, which your going to have to put in like 30 times a day. You will feel uncomfortable (like eyelashes in your eye), and you'll wear sunglasses indoors for the first day and a half.
Also, I don't know how it will go for you, but they told me it takes about 1 month or so to see PERFECTLY. So if at first you don't notice a HUGE difference like they promised, trust me, just wait it out.

I'm having CustomVue done, which is why it's so expensive. But they say that you should see 20/20 the day after your surgery with the customvue, or at least close to it. And yes, the big pain in the ass is the appointments before and after the procedure.
I already have 3 different eye drops for Thursday (surgery is on friday.)
I think I had that one as well (had it done at The Lasik Center on 410). Right after I got out of the procedure and was being briefed on all the eye drops and everything, one of the nurses told me to look out the window and see if I could notice a difference, which I did.
Cool - I'm excited, though a bit nervous because we only have two eyes ... lol
It's painless, just a bit uncomfortable. The procedure is really just amazing.

I had mine done in Denver last year. $1,600. Both eyes. Lifetime warranty. And my vision is perfect.
The same procedure was going to cost me $4,500 in Albuquerque.

I was legally blind with astigmatism and I now have 20/15 vision. I would totally do it again if I had to. And with any body getting old, you may need reading glasses later but not till your in late 40's, it's the same aging process as with someone who has perfect vision. Yah, mine is going to be about $4k ... , wish mine was $3k. They didn't tell me anything about going blind for a few seconds, but I knew about the device that holds your eyes open.
Main difference is between normal & intralase - I don't want a $%#@$# blade near my eye
Definitely get the Intralase, let the laser (and technology) do the work. Blade? No thanks.
Had mine done last January, best $3500 I ever spent. One word of caution though, if you start to get dry eyes with the drops the doc gives you, go to the store and try something different.
They gave me Refresh brand at the eye place, those made my eyes dry all the damn time. I tried Thera Tears and was completely off of eye drops about two weeks later other than a windy day here and there.
i've been looking to get this done for a while now. the only thing keeping me back were those shows on tlc i've seen where they show the dude with the scalpel cutting away a thin layer of the eye before they shoot the laser. that always creeped me out seeing the person still awake and them cutting your eye like that.
Yeah it's amazing how much it varies in price in different areas. I know people in Los Angeles that had it for $700 per eye.
damn.. if i could find a doc in sa that would be willing to do it for 700 each i'd do it now. i know docs in la can probably manage that price due to sheer volume... but still.
heya enigma, how was your Lasik? Anyway i know this is already a late reply but just wondering if how are you now after the LASIK? Actually I had mine last year and the outcome to me was perfect. Thanks to Dr. Stephen B. Wiles my surgeon, he was so informative and he went through all the steps involved in the treatment and im so happy about my vision now. What effects were you experiencing before? I also encountered side effects but it’s normal so no worries. Anyway I had my Lasik in my2020 how about you?Has anyone had it done? My surgery is on Friday and I just wanted to hear experiences.

i got prk done in nuevo laredo back in 2006 for $500. i can still see 20/20 so i guess it worked well...
Get it done. It's a painless and quick procedure.
I got it done a couple of years ago and it's helped me immensely.
Ed Rashid. He's very good. He did my eyes back in 2002.
