had they kept that LO they'd have a shot imho, LO's contract only has like 2.8m guaranteed for the final year, meaning he'd be an instant some 7m salary dump which would be pretty attractive to them magic who're set to rebuild.
if he didn't opt "in" he'd have to accept a salary discount in order to join dallas & make the great thing happen, however, a trade works if his salary doesn't exceed 125% the total salary offered by dallas and the mavs will give him whatever he demands the same time next year when his current term expires.
