I think Pop wants fresh legs for the RS, and Blair is a cheap contract that gives you exactly that. The underlying question I have is how he's going to handle being basically erased from the playoff rotation and whether he's willing to potentially put up with that one more time.
It's a contract year. Pouting during the season won't help him get paid next summer. If he gets regular minutes, I believe we'll see good effort.

Well, the contract year might've been last season. Did the Spurs pick up his option yet? I think DeJuan knows his future is not with San Antonio. While I understand your reasoning, he's a young kid and seemingly has let things get into his head before.

I am tired of Pop trying to coach regular season and playoffs that differently. I understand using your bench more but you can't just change people's roles when the playoffs arrive.
Pop should have stuck with the bench. In the first two rounds they did well.
Then he had a panic attack around Game 4 or 5 then decided in desperation to put Manu in the starting lineup and shorten the rotation forgetting that the big 3 are all 30 or up.
I don't see Bonner getting traded, even if we sign Lorbek. Pop likes to carry two floor spreaders whenever possible.
If we get Lorbek AND resign Diaw, it becomes much more possible. Borderline likely even.

I keep hoping every offseason that Bonner gets shown the door, but he's always back the next year. I don't see any way we lose him until his contract is up.
Blair, on the other hand, isn't untouchable to Pop. But, I don't think he gets traded anyway.
I'm pessimistic they'll trade Bonner because there is no replacement Stretch 4™. Pop must have a Stretch 4™ or he'll start (continue?) melting like the wicked witch. Until there is a replacement Stretch 4™, even one on a minimum salary like Tolliver was a few yeas back, I don't see Pop being able to function without his Matty B.
The ideal scenario would be to trade Bonner to the Heat to sabotage them.
A stretch 4 has really helped us the past few seasons more than a good defensive frontcourt player could ever have.

The team, particularly for Bonner, that makes sense is the Bucks. Once they sign Henson and Lamb, they'll be between $46-47M for 12 players. If I'm not mistaken, the cap floor next season is $54M. So if they fail to re-sign Ilyasova, they'll not only need to add significant salary, but they'll have a relatively full roster with no glaring positional deficiency.
If Ilyasova leaves, they'll need a stretch four. Also, with Dalembert and Henson joining Udoh on the front line, Sanders is redundant at this point. They don't really have a need for Neal or Blair, but they would provide inexpensive depth and help get them closer to the cap floor.
If the Spurs can re-sign Diaw, Green and Mills and sign Lorbek and De Colo, they'll need roster space. So something like Blair, Neal and Bonner for Sanders and a future 2nd makes sense for both teams. It might not sound like a great return for the Spurs, but they'd get rid of Bonner's contract (and more importantly, get rid of Bonner himself), get the type of athletic, shot blocking big that they'd desperately need with a Duncan, Diaw, Splitter, Lorbek, big rotation, and pick up a spare 2nd that should end up mid round. All they'd need at that point is a depth wing to fill out the roster. Byars might suffice, or they could go with some D-Leaguer.

Yeah, $54M sounded high. Could have swore I read that somewhere within' the past few days though.
Anyway, that doesn't really change much. Either way, the Bucks have money to spend, have inexplicably been in win now mode in recent seasons and seem to have an obsession with overpriced, middling veterans, with sub par athleticism. This should be right up their alley.
Bonner starts 2012-2013 game one for the Spurs. Book it.
