And after repeating (something the Spurs never did), he could have salary dumped Tyson, renounced the Trade Exception and had the same cap space he wanted to miss out on all of these guys.

I'm waiting for the Donnie troll to post about how everything is going according to plan.
getting younger should be the priority for this team imho, even if it isn't DH or Deron, they still have to add some younger guys to invigorate their aging squad. mavs are starting to rebuild gradually, they ain't ing things up and tanking, playing like intentionally for higher picks, instead they're getting young by signing established stars from the FA market so they can stay compe ive during the process of rebuilding

our FO s are geniuses, quit hatin' em tbh

    Damn.

First Williams, then Nash, and now Kidd? Striiiiiiiiike 3, you're OUT!

But seriously, letting Chandler, Stevenson, and Barea goes were pretty huge mistakes. They should've just rolled the dice with the same team...

I'm guessing they'll do like last year, get a bunch of stop-gap vets on one year deals and try to do the same thing next summer for that FA class. Problem is, if a guy is worth the max, then his original team is going to offer that, and unlike the old CBA, you can't get the same money by forcing a S'n'T. CP3 and D12 aren't going to leave that much money on the table, just as D-Will didn't.

Yup ^ and they don't have enough room to offer two max deals (even the reduced version) so that's extra extra money on the table.

so Dirk's last two seasons in Dallas will resemble Nash's last two years in Phoenix, and when it's up, he'll either retire or sign one more contract with a contender.

It has been beaten to death, but opting to pass on Chandler has turned out to be one of the worst moves in recent history, tbh..

Even with Lebron growing balls, Dallas still has a solid chance at repeating, with Tyson..
Not sure anyone was beating LeBron, but a repeat Finals was there for the taking and I would give Dirk at least a 33% shot at bringing it home if the series was close. Not only was it dumb but almost unprecedented. Even the 2nd 3 peat Bulls dismantling made more sense MJ had nothing left to prove

they can afford two max deals if they're targeting on them cheaper players (e.g. Hibert)

I do not believe that to be correct.

It's amazing how these dummies lucked into Tyson Chandler then kept him on accident and it got them a le. So undeserved.

@the Rockets stock-piling picks and ending up with

@ the Mavs for allowing Odom to teach them how to themselves

The only grave mistake the Spurs FO made was to keep Matt Bonner on the team tbh

At least they turned Bruce Bowen into Stephen Jackson fwiw

That said the Knicks got ANOTHER TOSB PG - didn't they learn from last year?

Dirk needs to drive South a couple hundred miles and win a ring with Tim before they retire.

    Sure is.

    David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt
Mavs have Aaron Brooks, Randy Foye on list of potential PGs, per source. Expect they'll look at Sessions, too. ESPN first w/Kidd to NY.
If Mavs are that desperate, maybe Suns can get a 1st rounder for Brooks.

Is Donnie Nelson a good GM?

Name one value pick he's made besides Josh Howard.
Beaubois. There's at least one NBA team out there that thinks he's untouchable.
