Weren't these guys complaining about paying players too much, and that the larger markets could only sign top dollar players? Seems like the only thing that changed is that the players don't get the revenue distribution they used to get, but there's plenty of bad contracts being signed to even things out.

    Examples:

    Batum (pending): 4 year, $45M
Jeff Green (pending): 4 year, $36M
    Roy Hibbert: 4 year, $58M

There's more coming. Eric Gordon is sure to get a ridiculous contract, which he will likely play for only half through its duration. Many of these RFA, Lin especially, will probably see their bids increase as July 11 approaches. Cap space is getting wasted by contracts all over the league.

Why should we care about this as fans? Smaller market teams are trending to spend-now-worry-later strategies, teams that should have the opposite approach. As the cap gradually becomes tougher, these teams will not be able to woo future talent with reasonable contracts due to their self-inflicted cap constraints. Meanwhile, teams like the Lakers and Heat are currently making deals with players worth four times the value in comparison while keeping their future cap space more available. Due to their own ignorance, franchises will watch as the rich get richer and ultimately the fans will pay. More teams will tank, super teams will become the norm and maybe some franchises will relocate.

All that money and no brains.

Honestly though, I love seeing superteams in the NBA. Two of the Spurs les came with rosters that would qualify as superteams (Duncan/Ginobili/Parker/Bowen/Horry/Barry).

It's always cool to see superteams that are put together when a GM uses foresight and intellect, but I'm referring to teams formed via trade demands and free agency collusion.

Wasn't that the previous season? Didn't he have almost 10ppg and shot like 35% or something insane like that this year?

July 8, 2012. The day that Jeff Green, Ryan Anderson, and Ersan Ilyasova all became 9M per year players.

league's map is getting reshaped just like how the world order was reformed after both world wars, winning franchise are continuing to win in decades to come while the ty ones are staying ty, and the mavs chose to join the wrong side at the buzzer

If I'm right, the mavs losing out on free agency and avoiding bad contracts this summer might actually be a blessing in disguise. While all the other teams are pinching pennies next summer, Cuban may be able to organize a coup (Im not sure how the market looks next summer). At the same time, Cuban is notorious for offering bad contracts (Dampier, Haywood, Marion, Howard etc.). It's the only glimmer of hope mavs fans have left in the Dirk era and it's not very promising

The Mavs look more and more like the 70s Warriors: Team that won a ring with ONE star (Rick Barry/Dirk), but are one and done especially once the Lakers and Celtics got back on the map.

    Warriors
trading Robert Parish for Joe Barry Carroll
