Anything on this thread but wild speculation at this point?
No one wanted Blair I'm assuming. At this point he's in a contract year and it's possible he'll improve and be more productive. For a bench player I think he's fine.
As for Bonner...I think all fans should accept there will always be a player that the coaches like and the fans hate. At the moment it's Bonner. I do think Bonner has earned that distinction, but at the same time, fans need to hate someone on their own team whenever they don't win the le. That's just part of the twisted logic of being a fan.
Spurs will either trade Bonner by July 19 or amnesty him.
I'm optimistic that Pop has seen enough with the red headed playoff choker.
It's time for a change.
Pop needs to treat Bonner like he treated Jackie Butler.
I got the above info from Coon's FAQ which is in error:
15. Is there a minimum amount each team must pay its players?
Yes, each team must meet a minimum payroll:
Season Minimum Payroll Amount
2012-13 80% of the cap $46.435 million
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q15
Today's release of the 2012-13 salary cap/luxury tax numbers include the minimum team payroll which is 85% of the salary cap or 49.337M.
I hope not. The Spurs gave up the rights to Scola to dump Butler.
I think the staff are probably working on this right now, more to move Bonner than Blair, but who is out there in the right price range that we could bring back who'd fulfill the system's needs? No-one in our price range.
If we could somehow S&T them for Ilyasova that would be golden, but I don't see it happening.
Don't be fooled by one 51 for 112 (.455 3P%) season. He was 171 for 510 (.335) before that.
Rumors are he's about to get a five-year deal worth $45 million. In the Spurs system, where we can better utilize role players and specialists, I'd much rather have Bonner at $4M / yr.
Parker/Green/Manu/Neal/Mills/DeColo is quite the glut of guards.
I wonder what Blair/Neal could get us.
You got to have some big guys.
i'd like to see this trade for the spurs:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=d5p3ffl
i think the bucks do it since they just drafted John Henson and they could use anderson too. It would be good for us cus we would get youth, size, defense and athleticism in return.
I don't see anyone trading for Bonner tbh. If they do. ..we won't be getting a damn thing back but a scrub and MAYBE a future 2nd round draft pick (protected if it's better than #55).
Blair, we could get something nice for, but more than likely it'll be someone worse than Blair. So there's basically no point in trading him.
While Blair's not good in certain situations, he's good in others. Our frontcourt isn't exactly deep, so if Duncan or Diaw gets injured, who are we putting out there to fill the gap? Blair's a nice safety net. I wouldn't wanna dump him.
If Blair was to be traded, I think it would've been for a draft pick on draft night.
The most interesting thing about that is that it claims the Bobcats would get -6 wins if they did that trade.
That would mean they'd have barely won more than 0 last year.
But I'd love to get Bismack Biyombo. Too bad it'll never happen.
Anderson also gives then a longer option at the 2, given their undersized Jennings/Ellis backcourt.
The Bobcats don't have a lot of guys who even have the potential to be above average NBA starters, and there's really no scenario where it would make sense for them to trade one of the ones who does for a bunch of marginal players.
It's only slightly more likely to happen than Stephen Jackson for LeBron.
