CROFL Orlando dragging things out when they could have probably gotten Dragic in a sign and trade in addition to picks had they acted earlier.
If they made deal could of had:

    Dragic
3 first round picks or 2 of the 3 plus Parsons

    and dumped: Turk or Jrich
    And eclined to re-sign Nelson

Instead they will get a poo-poo platter ...nice job.

The funniest thing about all this is Orlando thinks they actually have leverage.

Until now, I haven't gotten why the Lakers entered the Dwight sweepstakes instead of making minor deals that could extend the capabilities of the team.

Mitch wants to hit a HR. We have arguably the best PNR PG in the game today (Nash). Then you possibly add probably the best PNR C who just so happens to be DPOY caliber (D12). Add to that, probably the best passing big man in the game (Pau) and one of the best scorers in the game (Kobe).

You have to do that if possible then worry about the supporting cast later (look at Miami). I mean, who wouldn't want to play with these guys (esp ring chasers)?

Meanwhile, the defending champs are sitting pretty laughing at the desperation of these teams who are "trying" to dethrone them. This has been a very fun offseason.

Uh, isn't that the goal of every team that didn't win the le's main motivation? Get better or try to get better in hopes of beating the defending champs.

The dead essentially cripple the one team that gave them the most trouble by signing Ray Allen. With the Nets officiallly or Twitterficially out of the D12 race, the East is pretty much a cakewalk now more so than this past year.

Dwight wanted Nets. Nets wanted Dwight. He had a 2012 opt-out. They had assets & cap space. And somehow everyone whiffed.

if i were the gm of orlando i would have yoyoed between telling howard he's going to brooklyn and telling him it's never going to happen. then at the net's deadline, say nope just to with him. looks like this is what they did.

houston would be the next best team to negotiate with since they have quite a few assets.

Wonder if Morey is lowballing him. I would imagine the ugly ORL contracts are the key to discussions. Seems like Morey really wants to have enough money to sign Dwight and another max player next summer.

This is EXACTLY what's happening. For this I applaud him. When you know there is no compe ion, you do not outbid yourself. Nets are out, Lakers would need the Rockets to facilitate, so they can't do a direct deal with them. Atlanta? If Orlando wasn't intrigued by Brooklyn's offer, and are trying to squeeze more out of the Rockets, than Atlanta might be out too. Options are limited for Orlando, and they don't have all the time in the world to make a deal as they lose leverage every day Dwight isn't traded. Morey knows that, and is waiting for them to get desperate.

Or, Orlando might be even stupid enough to try and re-sign Dwight knowing the offers are .

Dwight's just not getting traded, tbh... they're gonna waste one more season on this bull and then he walks and they get nothing in return...
