The Mavericks will be aggressive bidders for Scola on the amnesty wire, league sources said. Dallas is serious about Elton Brand too.

Scola is a liability now. Mavs should have kept Chandler.

His contract is ridiculous (3y/$30M), but IIRC, you don't have to pick up the whole thing, you just have to outbid the other under-the-cap teams using your cap space.

Houston has to pay out the difference between his contract and the highest bid.

I'd say he would be good for a pickup of 3yr 18mil but nothing over and perhaps even less.

^ finley signed with them spurs in 05 after being amnestied from mavs, dude played there for a couple of years and helped them win their 4th championship while still getting paid by them mavs i mean if the team that amnesties a player only pays the difference, then it makes no difference to the player how much he gets paid from his new team imho

After last year, I wouldn't give him more than 3/15, and even that would make me nervous. If I had a team with the cap space, I'd probably want to bid 3/12 and hope to get a bargain on him as well as limit the downside risk.
