I thought he declined the invite, because he planned to have the Kobe german procedure? Not sure if true but could of swore I read that on LG. In fact, fans on there were glad he declined.

He gave interviews back in April saying he was getting the treatment and wouldn't be involved with Team USA.

I don't think that procedure would stop him from playing. I think I heard Kobe got it again and he's playing. I'm not sure though.

You're probably right. Kobe had this procedure right off after they were swept by Dallas in May last year. He was playing basketball in the Phili s by July as part of an NBA Stars tour there.
