The Dallas Mavericks have successfully claimed Elton Brand off amnesty waivers, a league source tells Y! Sports.

So since they won the bid for Brand, does that mean they are still able to bid for Scola?
Not that there's any chance Scola will pass bids by everybody else, just don't really feel like having to deal with another ing Spur-killer on the Mavericks.
NVM, been answered elsewhere. Apparently they still have capspace so they can still bid on Scola too.
Too bad Brand is done. Donnie is in full approval of done players though. lol
Wonder what they bid. They had about $6.2 million. Take whatever they have left over after that signing and add $450k or so to their remaining capspace for one less open roster spot under 12 and that's what they should have left to bid on Scola.
not sure why you even want scola if you already have:
dirk
brand
kaman
wright
marion
but yet still no real SG
Mavs got him with a $2.1million bid
They should pull a reverse Elton Brand and at the last minute, pull their offer and spend that money on someone else, tbh....
We don't need scola and it would up their plans for next summer because he has a 3 year deal
Kaman, Brand... does Cuban plan on signing Cassell, Cat Mobley, Livingston, QRoss, and Maggette next? Just don't get Daniel Ewing...![]()
Is it known who else bid on Brand?
And Griffin with his knees...
Rumours were Hornets!
@ Z Mavs...let's throw some more in the gumbo pot and see how that tastes...
Damn, that leaves more than $4.5 million for Scola and to re-sign West.
danhtay jones says hi. they mavs still have like 4m left in cap space and i think they'll use it on a SG/F where depth is lacked more than any position, but carlisle will still start jones for his defense and him not jacking up stupid shots imho
They don't have to pay the whole thing. If they bid $2 million a year and get him for it, it's only an extra $1.55 million off their capspace (remember there is a ~ $450k cap hold for each roster spot under 12, and Scola would eat one of those). That's a pretty outstanding bargain tbh. Scola hasn't lived up to his contract, but for that kind of money he'd be a steal.
mavs don't need anymore bigs now that they already have a stack of PF's. west not likely to re-sign with them mavs either, mavs don't have no problem giving him a one-year deal worth 4.5m but a long term one is what dude wants, which the mavs ain't giving him

Brand and Kaman ruled the league when they played tgether almost 10 years ago
Scola would be more to have a decent bench player for a dirt cheap price the year after when Brand is gone. Besides, have Brand backup the 5 and Scola the 4. Then give Nowitzki TOSB-level minutes in the regular season.
Minimum bid for Scola is 3.5M because of the structure of his contract and the amnesty rules.
That's a tough one then, as I don't know how much Dallas has in capspace for next year and whether they could afford to part with $3M of it and still sign a max guy.
They also sign Kaman? Doesnt make sense imho.
dallas should avoid signing any deal past 13' at all cost imho
