He's regressed the last two years (shot 40% from the field) but I think he could be rejuvenated getting better looks playing alongside Dirk. He's taking over the JET role. JET was a low-volume chucker in Atlanta and his FG% improved dramatically his first few years in Dallas.

    Low-risk/high-upside move.

4 max, we don't got his bird rights do we can't go over cap to sign him. So I'm guessing 2 years 8 mill

If they got him for $4 million then that's a great value signing. I was expecting something more along the lines of $8 million per in a sign and trade, based on the kind of contracts we have seen thrown out this summer. Looking at the Mavs roster and the salaries they would have left, it doesn't look like that's the case though.

my only thinking is that his market value took a big hit after sort of regressing these last couple of years and something about dallas really appealed to him. he probably sees dallas as a place where he's guaranteed to start and will get a chance to revitalize his career. win-win for both parties tbh.

The Juice is going to help Dirk's career if he plays like the guy Cubes is going to pay him to be -- make his shots, drive to the rack and help Dirk get easy points.

Several media outlets now confirming that it's not a sign-and-trade. First year will be $4.5M or less. Player option on second year.

I take it back, doesn't Dallas have a big trade exception for sending Odom to the Clippers? If they used that to throw $8 million at Mayo in a sign and trade it would be hilarious.

That's a pretty good deal then. Out of curiosity, who is reporting it? ESPN only has it as a multiyear deal.

I don't think you pick up young guys like collison, mayo, and wright just to use as trade chips for some overrated primadonna got. I'd much rather hold on to them and try to sign bynum in the offseason.
I think i'm also in the camp that i'd rather have Bynum. Even if he's a little , he's a little with actual big man skills, not just relying on n!ggerball like Dwight.
You are both ing re ed.

M>S, are you saying that if given the chance to trade for Dwight you would pass in order to maybe lure Bynum in the offseason. Bc it sounds like thats what you're saying and its the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Even if you think Bynum is the better player (hes not) you at least would do the trade considering its unlikely we could lure Bynum.

And even though Bynum does have more skill in the post, Dwight is still the better player by far.

now hold on a minute you little ass african soccer niglet

where did i say i'd turn down a sure shot at dwight in order for a shot in the dark at bynum? if i were GM, I'd pull the trigger on dirk for bynum today. keep all our young players and rebuild since we all know we aren't winning a ship as constructed.

me and you both know that dwight for scraps isn't on the table. and as far as he goes, he's a cancerous, undersized, whiny little broken back . i'd take bynum any day of the week over him. he's bigger, he's longer, he's more solid in the post and he isn't a whiner. dude would average 24-27ppg without chucker stealing the spotlight. he put up like 19 and 13 off 56% WITH chucker.

Lamar Odom is now the poster boy of trade exceptions.

Yes, and that's also a horrendous idea tbh

You said that you didn't want us to trade our young players for Dwight and would rather take the risk for a chance at both Bynum and these young players. Thats a ing terrible idea imho.

And no Dwight is better than Bynum. Thats really not worth a debate.

oj mayo only makes half a mill more than Danny green, wtmf?

Mayo looks like he's gonna be a good basketball fantasy player next season. He's one of 2 mavericks that can actually shoot.
