yeah with the other 3 all occupied by worldclass talents with decent depth, the PG and Center are relatively weak. but our weakest link is standing at the sideline of the court, not on the court imho

Obviously Miami is fine at the SG position considering Wade is one of the top SGs in the league and Ray Allen could be in the top 10.

There aren't really many real SGs out there, Wade is a monkeyballer tbh. Kobe, Manu & Harden are up there at the top in terms of traditional SGs and the former 2 are washed up while the latter is good but not great. There aren't really any excellent traditional SGs out there.

While Center has Bynum, Dwight, Chandler and Marc Gasol. Also weak, Dwight not being a legit 7 footer and Bynum an injury question mark. A better position than the SG is right now, though.

You'd be weaker as a team if your center was a focal point, for obvious reasons.

Seriously though does Miami need a legit center to win it all?

With certain match ups they might but don't think not having one is that big a deal for them.

Bosh at the 5 would work against any team not called ORL/LAL, tbh

Team USA sucks BAD at center this year. Chandler, and Davis? lol. Jesus christ. At least there's a couple decent SGs though.

In the NBA in general, center is also weaker than SG. The SG position has plenty of shooters/scorers with mediocre defense. The center position is filled with terrible offensive players with passable defense. Barely anyone stands out at all. Guys like the Turkish Hammer are getting nearly 10m a year offers because the center depth is so dog now. This, despite the fact that he literally struggles to make wide open layups despite being able to nearly touch the rim without leaving his feet. For all I know he can touch the rim without leaving his feet . . .and he still struggles to put the ball in the basket.

Asik makes Darko look like an offensive juggernaut. Literally, Darko looks great compared to Asik.

Imo, Harden's not going to make too impressive a showing this year. He's not going to get the same favorable calls he does in the NBA. Likewise for the entire Thunder trio tbh, but the other two, at least Durant, is at least good enough to still do something w/o grossly favorable whistles.

Bosh at Center is brilliant. A nightmare for other teams to deal with.

As long as Team USA has LeBron, Durant and Kobe, we are gonna be fine.

Center by a good margin. The game favors smalls now...eventually the pendulum will swing back to bigs.

League wide, the weakest position as far as how it's currently staffed is the center and it's not even close. The weakest position as far as it's importance to the outcome is not the center position however, but PG position. You've seen the last few years of championships being won by teams with strong SG/PF/Center positions, with PGs like Cole, Fisher, 40 year old JKidd and a still developing Rondo. There's been no Chris Paul, no Deron Williams, no Steve Nash, it's even arguable that Westbrook went into full on re PG mode in the Finals which hurt his team (though plenty will say he's the only thing that kept them afloat, the Kobe argument). Even as Rondo has become more assertive, the Celtics have fallen back a step or two (though there are other factors to consider).

All in all, the center is still the foundation of the team. Compared to Howard and Lebron's moves, CP3's was almost neutered. Howard on the Nets would make them a threat in the East. CP3 there wouldn't get them to the playoffs. Same is true in NY, it wouldn't get them into round 2. Howard would make NY a powerhouse.
