It really depends on your type of team:
If you have an elite PG to run a P'nRs you take Dirk.
If you want to run and gun you take Dirk.
If you have an elite bigman next to him you take Dirk.
If you want to pound the ball up the opponents throat you still take Dirk.
If you want to play defense and have enough offense from others you may take Pau but after overthinking it you still want Dirk.

Huge reason for three consecutive Finals putting up 20, 10, 3, and 2 despite playing alongside the biggest chucker of all-time+real solid defense. Youd have to be a dumbass/mav homer to not give MVPau the edge during that stretch tbh.
