I went to see it. mind = blown
A lot of close ups of Anne Hathaway's butt and Tom Hardy's face.
My brother and I waited 4 hours in the movie theater and finally saw it. We basically were sitting in a movie theater from 8pm to 3am. I liked it. I'm not sure if it was better than The Dark Knight. It was probably better than Batman Begins.
Props to the Liam Neeson Taken spoilers meme.
'Dark Knight Rises' called epic, perfect by fans at midnight showings
People went batty for Batman at the AMC Loews Shore 8 theater in Huntington filling up all eight midnight showings of "The Dark Knight Rises" early this morning.
"This is by far the best movie of the year," says Angel Salazar, 17, of Huntington Station. "It makes 'The Amazing Spider-Man' look like a child's film."
Fans exited the two hour and 45 minute film at 3 a.m. stunned and amazed at the conclusion to director Christopher Nolan's trilogy.
"It was the perfect ending," notes Jacob Axelrod, 20, of Centerport. "It was like Occupy Wall Street meets the French Revolution."
The story picks up eight years after "The Dark Knight," when Batman ( Christian Bale) battled the Joker (the late Heath Ledger). Batman has been in hiding and must come out of retirement when uber terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy) brings Gotham City to its knees.
"As a comic book fan, I think it effectively combined a bunch of different Batman stories and meshed them together very well," said Thomas Fischl, 20, of Huntington.
The burning question people have been wondering is whether the new chapter surpasses 2008's mega-blockbuster "The Dark Knight."
"I think it was better than 'The Dark Knight' because there was more going on," says Kevin McCarthy, 25, of Huntington. "You get to see Bruce Wayne rise up like the le says, which was inspiring."
"Heath Ledger's performance in the last film was unrivaled," adds J.P. Letourmeau, 18, of Centerport. "But this story was on more of an epic scale."
The villain character of Bane won raves from crowd for his cruel brutality while Catwoman ( Anne Hathaway) got most of the film's clever quips and added sex appeal.
"Both Bane and Catwoman were done better than the last time," says Dan Lerner, 22, of Dix Hills. "The characters were well developed and not mindless."
The unpredictable ending had people holding their breath and cheering right up until the credits rolled.
"The ending was something I didn't expect. It blew my mind," comments Joey Judice, 16, of Centerport. "Finally someone portrayed Batman the way it should be done."

Im really shocked
This is horrible
Yeah 14 dead & 50 Injured and counting. Sorry state of affairs in Colorado.
I really enjoyed the movie. I won't spoil anything. Bane's voice was great. It will be hard to make a reboot of Batman for a very long time (if ever) after how good this franchise was.
I don't have much experience with going to blockbuster movies on opening weekend.
what kind of crowd do yall think will be at a mall theater at 9 am on Sunday?
Small. I go to big movies on their opening weekend as often as I can, and the earliest matinee is the way to do it. Especially during church hours.
5 years tops.
I remember reading/watching an interview with Tom Hardy (I think) where he (or whoever) had said that the Bane voice just took some exposure to get used to, and I totally agree. It took a few lines for me to adjust, but it was nearly completely comprehensible once I did.
Cool, thanks CF.
prob going for it then. Dunno if I can risk waiting and getting the plot spoiled
I'm not going until tomorrow morning, and the wait is killing me.
Yeah but you just want to visually grope Tom Hardy's muscles
The tragedy won't affect my plans to see the movie this weekend. As someone who follows box office results I wouldn't be surprised if the movie opened lower than estimates because of the shooting.
I'm so disappointed in myself; I started nodding off during the scene where Batman was recovering from his injuries, so I have no idea what happened between then and when Bane started blowing up the sewers.
I guess that's what I get for not sleeping for two days straight. Count that as one perfectly good Imax ticket wasted...![]()
30.6 million for TDKR midnight showings.

Nice, 2nd highest midnight opening ever. I figured it wouldn't beat Potter's record.
"The Dark Knight Rises" was on track to rival and potentially beat "The Avengers" by the end of its first weekend. However, it now remains to be seen whether news of the Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooting where 12 people were killed and dozens more injured will keep audiences away from theaters and dampen ticket sales this weekend and beyond."
That ing sucks.
If that's all I wanted I could just pop Bronson in the PS3 and not deal with the rain.
Also, what's the over/under on how long it takes CBF to suggest that the shooting in Aurora was part of a vast conspiracy to hide the fact The Avengers would have had a stronger opening weekend?
/tasteless humor
I thought about saying that hours ago but I felt it would be karmicly dubious
But, yes, cbf will be proven right and lefty will use this as an excuse
Me too - have a 10:05 a.m. showing.
So you weren't disappointed at all? Did you leave feeling the same way as you did after TDK (i.e. blown away)?
Was Catwoman a worthwhile part and did that add to the movie, detract or just blend in?
I thinking I'm going again this evening with my daughter. I think it deserves my watching at least once more in theaters.
I am pissed about this though. Apparently there are 2 different Man of Steel teasers playing at TDKR's screenings. I happened to see the one that isn't so great. I LOVE the other one (which I saw a leaked version online, but the cam footage sucked really bad).
Anyhow I really hope the good teaser is attached to TDKR's screening I watch tonight. Wtf have 2 diff ones?
