they may pull the trigger, but the chamber will be empty

Before I duck out again, a Dwight Howard note: the Magic, I'm told, are hopeful that they can pull the trigger on a deal by early August (although I certainly couldn't tell you which one it might be). That being said, new GM Rob Hennigan - who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time in Vegas - is proving to be very prudent in this process, meaning those hopes won't be realized if the deal simply isn't up to his standard's. The Magic's coaching search continues, too, and I'd be surprised at this point if the job doesn't ultimately go to San Antonio's Jacque Vaughn (though that's informed opinion, not reporting any imminent hiring).

so true...that little dip- Hennigen lucked out and had a little success in OKC now he thinks he's a spitting image of Ocean's 11 casino owner Reuben Tishkoff...
Dude can posture all he wants but he has to understand this isn't OKC....the model is broken the deck of cards have been reshuffled and he doesn't have many options...
@tryin to build a legacy
Dude has been money so far...

"@Original_Gio: @Lakerholicz like we thought, D12 wont be w/Magic come camp- @TonyMejiaNBA" Houston or LA. Rockets facilitate either way.

People underestimate Rockets desire to turn Kevin Martin's expiring into major piece. Lakers prefer DH to Bynum. Best Magic deal comes soon.
How?
Ray Charles could see the Nets deal was no good. They're basically going to get what's offered or let him walk.
The Lakers will only offer one piece....he can take the Rockets future low round draft picks but don't sell me on it was the best deal...the best deal for them is to let Dwight walk and then tank the next few yrs to get high picks or let the Cavs facilitate a 3 way with the Lakers giving Orlando the high picks they covet..but to date Hennigan has done nothing in Orlando to garner whispers that he's a great GM.
They have to shed bad contracts.
No they don't....its just a nicety....
If they let Dwight walk they'll have bad contracts but with the rookie wage scale they can absorb quite a bit. By the time they look decent enough to compete those contracts will fall off the books.
Why would they want to pay Hedo, Richardson, Duhon etc while they rebuild? Bad strategy and won't allow for a complete rebuild. To completely suck, they have to start d-leaguers.
My...you're just full of ty ideas today....as per the usual....
If they can shed them then good....my point is they won't shed them and get high picks if they trade Dwight to Houston. The best deal for them sends Bynum to Cleveland....Dwight plus 1 bad contract to LA...with high picks from the Cavs going to Orlando....the second best deal is to send Dwight + 1 bad contract directly to LA...if neither of these scenarios pan out the next best option is to let him walk.
They still have to maintain some semblance of an NBA team so fail on your D-league idea...and shame on you for suggesting it as a way to hide the fact I was owning you.
just send him to detroit for cheap and have him rot there for a year.
Ok Ill play along, just cuz you look dashing in pink. How exactly would Orlando get high picks from Cleveland? Bynum + Kyrie is a playoff team, so you'd have late 1st round guaranteed contracts. If they made a deal, Orlando would send out more than 1 bad contract. Orlando's not going to get high picks anyway b/c they waited too late to trade Dwight, best they'd get is Toronto's pick from Houston (Top 3 protected), Dallas' pick from Houston, 3 second rounders, (one of which is Charlotte's and 2nd round contracts ARE NOT guaranteed). Thanx for keeping me entertained whoever's troll you are. Nothing good on TV.
In a potential trade for Dwight and Bynum...compared to Houston what is Cleveland sitting on right now by way of picks?
Further to my point and to make you look even more idiotic...If the Magic want to shed salary..wouldn't they be better off sending bad contracts to LA and Cleveland as opposed to just sending one to Houston?
Like I said, Cleveland's picks would be worthless for Orlando with Bynum going to Cleveland. What does Cleveland have that Orlando would want? Exact same reason Brooklyn deal fell through.
Early August? So this joke is still going to go on for a couple of more weeks?
Possibly so. IMO, I think it ends next week.
How do you expect LA to take on a bad contract when all they have to give are bad contracts in return? only expiring is Mcbob's, but its still not enough to take on one of the contracts Orlando is trying to shed.
Anderson Varejao and multiple first round draft picks. Maybe LA throws in Ebanks plus McRoberts expiring...with the ability if LA and Cleveland to absorb more bad contracts...something that Houston cannot offer to such a degree
Simple answer Sherlock....By paying more in Luxury tax like they always do...
read this and move along..
via Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak still swinging for home run—Dwight Howard - latimes.com.The Lakers, however, are open to taking the slightly more palatable contract of Magic guard-forward Jason Richardson, 31, who has three years and $18.6 million remaining.
Multiple LATE first round picks. lol Varaejo has like 3 years 38 million remaining on his contract. Fail.
problem isnt that they wouldnt pay the tax but just how do you expect them to take on the contracts?
ESPN.com reported on Wednesday that the Cavs have moved ahead of the Rockets as a facilitator in a deal with the Lakers and Magic, but a league source briefed on the talks maintained Wednesday this is all a leverage tactic to get the Rockets to up their offer for Howard.
A source with knowledge of the Lakers' plans confirmed Tuesday in Las Vegas that any talk of progress in trade talks regarding Howard was incredibly premature.
The Rockets remain the only team in the league with both the assets and desire to acquire Howard themselves. The Lakers need a third team to get something done because of their cap constraints and lack of desirable assets and the Nets are out of any trade talks until the middle of January.
The Rockets, meanwhile, still haven't signed any of their three first-round picks from last month's draft, hoping to at least include some -- if not all -- in a future deal for Howard. Once the players sign their rookie contracts, they cannot be traded for 30 days.
The Cavaliers to this point have not seemed inclined to include any of their young players in any potential deals. That includes Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, Tyler Zeller and reigning Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving.

avs general manager Chris Grant did leave Las Vegas summer league this week earlier than expected, as ESPN.com reported, but it was so he could return in time for the surgery on Irving's fractured right hand. It had absolutely nothing to do with any trade talks moving forward, a league source said.
In an intriguing twist, the Rockets were believed to be incredibly high on Zeller, whom the Cavs selected 17th overall. They had three picks in the middle of the first round, and had two chances at him before the Cavs traded up to No. 17. Yet they never selected him.
The belief of at least one front office official involved in the trade talks is that the Rockets were selecting players the Magic liked in an effort to get a deal done
If Houston trades for Dwight and Orlando is stupid enough to take on the trash that Houston offers..Dwight will end up in Dallas...Mark my words...![]()
are you that stupid..really
So he'll give up 30 million just like that?![]()
