I'm reading a lot of Mav boards and people are saying a top 4 seed while others are saying 7th at best. Personally I think Dallas will be in the mix for most of the season but will ultimately end up 5th or 6th.

This team just has too many new pieces and big question marks. Can Darren be an effective starter and run pick and roll with Dirk? Can mayo live up to his potential and be that 2nd option for Dallas? Will the paint D be with an undersized brand and injury prone Kaman?

He will have a bounce back year. He didn't give a last year after the hangover and loss of TC. He actually started to round into shape towards the end.

I think they're playoff bound... but it's hard to predict where... the West has been a dogfight for a while now...

I actually agree with Stalin. Dirk is done and I would love to move him for Bynum while the rest of the league still rates him highly simply off of reputation.

Nope it would only happen if Howard wasn't on the table and the lakers figured bynum was going to walk at the end of the year for nothing

It can happen if Mavs can facilitate in a 3 team deal for Howard. Not sure if they have the cap room to take bad contracts

I think the Mavs will seed somewhere between 4-6 and have a ceiling of winning a playoff series.

No they don't. Wouldn't make sense.

why just win one series? the spurs proved last year that any of those 2nd tier teams can make it to the WCF if they just avoid OKC until then. the way i see it, it's OKC, then a cluster er for 2-6 unless the lakers get dwight and he pans out for them. avoid okc for as long as possible is the name of the game.

I'd guess 4-5 seed most likely.

If the Lakers were smart, they would do Dirk for Gasol in a ing heartbeat, but Dirk for Bynum -- which means lining up Gasol next to Dirk -- would be going full re . Gasol/Dirk would be a mess.

But I certainly wouldn't take Gasol if I were Dallas.

Best move for Dallas for now: wait it out and see if they can somehow pry Dwight Howard loose next summer. The odds aren't great, but they're better than trading Dirk for 50 cents on the dollar, which is probably all they could get.

The Lakers would do Pau for Dirk in a millisecond, but the mavs would never make that trade.

as long as we're compe ive i'm happy because for once i have a couple of young players i can watch and hope they develop into something nice..if this teams ceiling was today i'd be pissed but at least when we rebuild we will have a head start with wright/collison/mayo and cap room. dirk coming off the books the year after next as well as marion will be sick.

4-6, could be the team the Lakers beat to get to the second round
