What about those people on a dating website that just meet for a first date? It's really no different then being set up on a blind date....I would imagine that it's actually less awkward.

I'd ask those people what's wrong with them that they can't either get dates in real life, or why they have a problem with everyone to the point that nobody in their real life is "good enough" and they are constantly searching for gratification elsewhere?

yep i've noticed some people like myself respond immediately off the top of their head while others tend to spend 5-10 minutes typing up each post

my thinking is that if you're having to mass date and use all resources to find someone to be with, you're either really picky or there's something about you people don't like.

I guess that's where we disagree. I just don't see anything wrong with it. If someone finds their significant other in a bar, at the library, on the internet, or wherever, well, good for them. Hopefully they're happy, and hopefully they stay happy.

Then I jump right into the, "well, I was going to school at xyz University and working part time as the janitor. I kept solving the math problems that the professor's left on their whiteboards until they discovered that I was doing it. Then they gave me a scholarship to Yale, but I had to go see about a girl, so I couldn't finish".

I think e-dating is a crutch for the socially awkward, tbh. I can somewhat understand older adults using this tool, but if you're in your 20's (especially college-age) then there's just no good reason for it unless:

A. You're socially awkward
B. You're fat, ugly, or both.
C. All of the above.

If you're any of the aforementioned (especially if you're really young)--then you probably use online dating as a defense mechanism against frequent rejection in real life.
