lol at these comments
What happened to enforcement of our immigration laws? When the States do it, the Feds sue them. Why isn't the Federal Government deporting ALL illegal aliens? Why has Eric Holder failed to secure our border? Why has President Obama called for the closing of 9 border patrol stations?
Close the F'n border and deport all those that qualify. Pretty simple? It has to be simple for obama and his cronies that just gave 800,000 meskins and others your children's money. How stupid can our gov't get?
A citizen isn't given the right to walk away from their financial obligations....why are these people allowed to? It just encourages more of this type of behavior and costs those of us who do pay alot more for our treatment. It's free for them, not for us.
It's because of THOSE idiots WE Elected, maybe not me and not you, but the others yes....
because they be king 1/2breed's voters along with the I-refuse-to-work minorities and the dead
how about stop giving rights to ILLEGAL immigrants
Bill the illegal immigrants' country of origin for health care and deportations. You won't #$%$ off anyone in the US and use the money to pay off the deficit. If that country refuses, you cut off aid.
ILLEGALS, ILLEGALS, ILLEGALS, when is our country's government going to do something about ILLEGALS? I'm tired of paying for people who come here for a free ride. Free education, free healthcare, housing and food support. They get paid under the table and don't pay taxes, they won't even learn
What's wrong with this picture...why do the illegals get to skip out on paying a hospital bill, when a United States citizen would be chased down for payment? How about this...treat them. Put them immediately on a bus and deport them. With the medical bill going to our friends in Mexico.

I hate to say it, but illegals have gotten a good ride in the US. I say if ANY law enforcement office finds an illegal during his/her duties. They should be arrested on site, and deported after 48 hours
48 hours gives them enough time to prove that they MIGHT be legal, to go before a judge, not...
this article was posted today
My brother in law is a Dallas cop. Anytime, I mean anytime he finds an illegal he turns them over to be deported. He says it saves him paper work. God bless
hey ducks
u cryin over which is only a small population to ur GDP expenditure compared to the citizens of the country who do all....crying over something that is small price
small population causing major issues and major debt
20 billion each year is a ing waste but I guess to you it is peanuts
As the article points out, Hospitals need to treat everybody, american or not, insured or not, being able to pay or not, etc... there's no preferential treatment there...
You can thank that commie Reagan forcing Hospitals to do that, and getting stuck with the bill since then... more than "welcome to last month", it's "welcome to three decades ago"...
no the hostpitals do not need to treat everyone
prove they are usa citizen if they can not prove it do not treat them
it will stop them from coming over
rewarding them is stupid and will not stop the proplem
and if you try to stop them they say racial profoling bull
there was a time when america needed extra laborers to help explore the raw lands, and that was in the 18th and 19th centuries. people immigrated into the US where they had to face a motley of challenges from the extreme weathers (hurricanes, storms etc...) to the conflict with native americans, and their descents know things they have today shouldn't be taken for granted
immigrants from the 80s or later immigrated with the only purpose for america's prosperity that they or their ancestors had nothing to do with, they just take a lionshare of someone else's hardwork and yeah, these people don't have no shame
that's not the law, period. don't like it? call your congressman and let him know...
I can agree with that, but that issue is one that this country has been struggling with for many, many years (decades, I would say).
It's a problem much more complicated than just "enforce the laws" or "lock down the border". There really is no easy, one-shot fix (despite what politicos would like to tell you). You can "enforce the laws" all you want, but if you have a leaky border, then for every one you send out, 5 more walk in. If you lock down the border, then you only solved half the problem, since almost half of illegals didn't cross the river, they just came in legally with tourist visas and overstayed.
Attacking this needs a multipronged approach. And while I hate to single out a specific country, Mexico really is a major player on this. I linked you to the numbers last night, and they make up for 60%+ of illegal immigrants. They already lost the visa lotto privilege. Perhaps it's time to stop granting tourists visas too?
Where this gets really complicated is that southern cities and even some states greatly benefit from the cheap labor and the commerce from Mexicans. Then there's the fact that's where drugs largely sneak into the country, which means the other side is actively trying to find routes in, and they have a good chunk of money to bribe, etc.
I think securing the border needs to be done regardless, as a matter of national security (you would think securing your own border would have much higher priority that fighting some bull war in the middle east). It'll take more than just a fence though. In addition to that, you also need to deal with the tourism part. Caps maybe? I don't know what the answer to that one is.
The preferential treatment comes by the fact they have no legal ties here. Once they are known to be illegal, they don't even try to seek means of payment. A citizen ends up filling out tons of paperwork that illegals get to skip.
Well, now you know why you need immigration reform. But the key is, there's no political will to do anything by either party. This isn't a new problem at all. Dubya's proposed immigration reform already included a "temporary worker" program, appealing to the low-wage corps. And IIRC also a workplace check. It didn't go anywhere. Not even his party backed him up on it.
But large corps don't give a either. They simply moved those jobs overseas. No immigration reform is going to fix that. As I said, the problem is much more complex than "penalize the employers".
An illegal immigrant doesn't fill up any less/more forms than a citizen. Hospitals don't establish immigration status. Them not paying is no different at all from a citizen not paying.
Why do you feel the urge to talk out of your ass?
hey ducks,
taxpayer funded health facilities already face $200B/year in non-reimbursed care, and I bet most of that is American citizens w/o health care. So they jack up their prices to insured/insurance companies to recover those costs.
This is a fantastic system, IF you've got your dipper into that flow of money, which ultimately is wealth transfer from citizens to corporations via the broken, corrupt US "free market" "for profit" health care fiasco.
According to you, I always talk out my ass.
Look. I've seen it. Maybe other states are different, but the places in Oregon just don't waste their time trying to collect useless information. If you appear as an established US resident, they will do the best they can to collect reliable information for billing if they have a chance to collect. If you speak little or no English and have brown skin, they just skip much of the paperwork, assuming they will never have a chance to collect.
I'm sure you did... anecdote FTW
health care has made money because gov keeps giving them money
it goes back to the taxpayer
