Well, winner of this game gets a spot on the bracket containing Team USA, not exactly a feasible path. In addition, the winner of this game will probably open up play versus Argentina.
While throwing away contests/tanking games has been well do ented already in these Olympics, don't be surprised if these teams don't play at their full capability. Spain will attempt to tank as will Brazil.
As long as a team is on the opposite end of the bracket containing Team USA, a team is in the run for silver.
It should be a very very very interesting game to say the least......
Aside of avoiding USA in the semi final, another part of the equation is the opponent of the quarter final. The loser of this game will face France and the winner will face Argentina.
Who do Brasil and Spain rather face next? France or Argentina?
While I think Spain doesn't care because they are are, rightfully, convinced they will beat easily either, I'm not sure who Brazil want to face.
I have no idea who Brazil wants to face but as a Spurs fan it would be a nice treat to see Brazil vs France.
The only saving grace of being in the same bracket as Team USA is that if you win the first game, you still have a shot at the Bronze if you lose against Team USA.
Well, as a brazilian I would say that Brazil prefers to play against France. But I don't that we gonna tank.
Well, the good thing is this game is the second to last game of the day. I don't have to get up early for it.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough to tank the game since they are really strict about it, remember what happened with 8 (or how many?) badminton players who got disqualified. Overall, I expect a strange game, and expect Brazil to win (sadly), because Spain is known for playing "ugly" and I think they are capable of making up some fake injuries for their players.
