Wow, those floodgates opened fast. I looked away for like 10 minutes and the US went up 25 points.
That's how good Kevin Durrant is. Scary.

Team USA has every right to push the ball and score as many points as it can. If they take their foot off the pedal, they let Argentina back in the game.
Just like Argentina has every right to foul Team USA if they feel like it. It's part of the game, and you get penalties for doing it. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and getting fouled while you're running up the score is one of them. Just like getting thrown at if you gloat after hitting a jack in baseball, or get put into the dirt if you celebrate too hard in the end zone after a touchdown.

Argentina doesn't match up well with Team USA. They don't have anyone that can take advantage of our lack of size. Manu is a great player, but he can't outplay Durrant and Lebron on the same team. Not the way these guys are playing.

Yes, they can foul. But instead of intentionally fouling, why not play better defense and try to get back into the game.

And if they resulted to cheap shots to hurt someone that's more of a black eye on basketball than running up the score.

Kobe is actually the best way to beat Team USA. Turn him into a volume scorer, at his age and decline, and you have a shot. He's got too much pride to admit he's probably a second-unit player on this team.

    Several problems with your point.

1: You can't "get back into the game" when you're down 30 with 7 minutes left. Mathmatically speaking, it's almost an numerical impossibility to get back in it unless USA shoots blanks for the remainder of the game and makes several mental screw ups while Argentina shoots 100% and makes zero mistakes. Literally, if USA just holds the ball for 24 seconds each possession and not even shoot, Argentina would barely get enough possessions to make 30 points in that amount of time.

2: They didn't foul Team USA to "get back into the game", they did so because USA was running up the score and fouling their players hard.

3: It isn't a black eye to basketball, and I doubt they'd care even if it did. A black eye to basketball would be terrible officiating, point shavin, etc. Such as Spain tanking to Brazil earlier today.

Therefore Argentina has as much right to do what they did as Team USA running up the score and taunting. Fouls are part of the game. Flagrant fouls are part of the game. Teams choose to do them when they don't like what the other team's doing in any major sport. Time to leave the bubble and accept reality.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? As I do recall, Argentina was fast-breaking and tossing behind the back passes enroute to a gold medal in Athens against the USA. So yes, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

I also know for a fact, that Scola and Nocioni have zero problem with a well placed elbow here or there on any given opponent. So again yes, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Arg has been known for being physical for years. I'm a Spurs fan and it's the same with them. As long as the black n silver are TAKING elbows, it's ok. The minute they start getting physical AND succeeding....they're dirty.

Same. I don't magically like fools just because they put on a shirt with "USA" glued onto the chest.

Yes. I'm so disappointed that Team USA gets pumped up to play a team as good as Argentina, and then they get so excited just because they have an incredible run in the third quarter. How dare they think they are so great?!! How dare they show emotion and get pumped?!!

I'm sure no one would get pumped if the Spurs had a quarter like that against the Thunder in the playoffs.

Acting arrogant, yelling, taunting, shaking your arms and/or beating your chest is called being unsportsmanlike. It's especially not something you do at the Olympics. Not sure why you're surprised people don't like it. Have you been living under a rock? Is this your first Olympics? It ain't playground basketball. They're supposed to be professionals, not clowns.

Team USA acting like idiots. They are making a big deal over the "Melo cheap shot" but CP3 did the same exact thing to ARG's PG in the first half. Where was the outrage there?
Yes, that's the problem. One too many of Team USA often acts like an idiot. Carmelo screaming and yelling while hiding behind his teammates should be kind of embarrassing you'd think. Too many of these guys are the anti Tim Duncan. Carmelo telling the press how "classy" they were in their 80 point humiliation against Nigeria. Kobe is probably the voice of reason on this team and that's pretty scary. Oh well, I doubt if many of them went to class much. At least KD has his Mom to keep him in line. Maybe Patty can open up a can of whoop-ass on them. I'm with whomever said I'll root for the USA in every other sport. The 100 million yearly earnings of the starting 5 makes it a little questionable......and they took away Jim Thorpe's medals?? Right!!!??

Theres a difference from being excited/pumped and being arrogant, like at the end of the game 20 + points and then shooting the three at the end which really didn't bother me until he does some stupid showboat.(Harden)
