We'll get bad ass pictures eventually. That just takes awhile to transmit and I'm sure they're using the limited bandwidth and connection time to make sure everything is OK first.

What's the point of this rover? I am guessing it's better equipped to take soil samples and use higher resolution spectrometry or something along those lines.

Yeah I think it has some really good soil sampling equipment. A large part of the mission was to prove the technology to land heavier rovers works (the skycrane etc). The skycrane system is BAD ASS, IMO.

As a matter of fact, most of the movies you see are from a book.
