Sons real talk its a damn shame that this will be Misty and Kerri's last Olympics. I mean no one else even comes close to them and they are still relatively young (33-34). I've heard Misty use the "I want to start a family" excuse, but that's not a legit excuse because Kerri Walsh started a family after 2008. Would they lose a couple of sets here and there if they came back in 4 years? Likely, but you could almost guarantee they would still sweep and mop the floor with the compe ion even well into their early 40's and for sure in their late 30's. Why stop at 3 gold medals when they could likely win 4 or maybe even 5?
Son, it is going to be a mortal blow to woman's beach volleyball I'm afraid. They are the two girls that made the world look at the sport a little more seriously. Before them, everybody was just watching bubble butt Brazilians win gold in a watered down compe ion. Now people are watching for skill, as seen by the rising attendance to the games regardless of the fact that the prettiest women are gone.
Real talk, though. They might come back, they said they were retiring after Beijing. I highly doubt it, Misty will go and make herself a baby while Kerri will probably settle down and become a full time mom. God knows those two women deserve to sit down and retire for all they done. Misty and Kerri are still young, but both of them have had their fair share if injuries. A 3peat would just be icing on the cake.
I have to say this, though: Those two inspired a lot of young women to train up so they can make their own noise in beach volleyball.
ALL USA women's final,sweet! Kessy and Ross are better than I thought,that chick on Brazil Larissa was pissing me off with her trash talk;good to see her get put in her place by USA. Misty May and Kerri still going to win though,their defense is so legit they are much more efficient diggers than Kessy/Ross.
