Probably the immortal five .... as good as Bird was, LeBron is going to destroy every stat Bird put up and probably tie him in rings. I think James will go down as the best SF ever.
I agree. And Larry would too. Kobe is probably gonna be ranked ahead of Bird too, but we shall see. Lebron has a outside shot at MJ and I have said that consistently the past 4 seasons. He just needed to ring, then ring some more. I think he gets #2 this year. He gest one more he ties Bird in rings and Im guessing he eclipses every number Bird ever had outside of maybe FT shooting% and 3pt% ...

Kobe, Hakeem and Duncan will also be within reach. Magic, Kareem and MJ will be tougher to catch

@ thinking Kobe being over Duncan is bull

    Kobe>Duncan. Sorry.
    Duncan 2 MVP's
    Kobe 1 MVP

    Duncan 3 finals MVP's
    Kobe 2 finals MVP's

Duncan accomplished the ultimate NBA feat: Regular season MVP and Finals MVP in the same season.

Not to mention that every objective person that saw both of these guys at their primes know that Duncan was ten times more dominant than Kobe.

    Duncan > Kobe

Using Regular MVPs isn't the end of it all

Kobe in seasons he did not win MVP

    '06: 35/5/4 56 TS%
    '07: 32/6/5 58 TS%

Duncan in seasons he won MVP

    '02: 26/13/4 58 TS%
    '03: 23/13/4 56 TS%

    Finals MVPs

Duncan won Finals MVP in '05 averaging 21/14/2 47 TS%

Kobe in the '02 Finals averaged 27/6/5 62 TS%, but did not win the award.

But you rank them for head to head playoffs series between the teams of those players?
Answer this, who was the best player in the Lakers vs Spurs series this last decade?

I don't know, I would have to look at the stats. But even if it was Kobe, that doesn't mean he's the better player in general.

Playoff stats head to head (30 games):

    Duncan - 25.2 pts 13.6 rbs 4.2 asts 2.3 blks

    Kobe B - 28.2 pts 5.9 rbs 4.7 asts 1.4 stls

...if you are trying to convince me Kobe is better than Duncan based on stats played head to head in the playoffs, then I am not a buyer. Duncan clearly has the better numbers.

Duncan has been the best player on 4 champion teams....Kobe 2. For all of Kobe's offensive prowess, he only averages 3 pts more per game on less efficient shooting. Defensively Kobe hasn't been in the same league as effecting a game as Duncan. Duncan has simply done more with less...

Both shot 47 FG%, so no Duncan was not more efficient. In fact Kobe was more efficient since he made many 3 pointers and shot higher % from the FT line. Kobe's eFG% was higher.
Kobe's '99 performance (he was still young and raw) lowers his stats which is the only reason why it even looks comparable.
Lakers won 4 out of 6.
Stats don't tell you everything too. In 2002, Duncan has the better stats in that series, but Kobe was the better player if you watched the series. In Game 4 of the 4th quarter he outscored the Spurs entire team by himself and hit the Gamewinner, while Duncan choked. In Game 3 of the 4th quarter Kobe scored 11 points on 5-5 shooting leading his team to victory.

Duncan couldn't take over games in the 4th quarter like Kobe could, so he is the very least in his league on affecting games
No Duncan has not done more with less
He hasn't done more. Kobe won 5, Duncan won 4. Kobe 7 finals, Duncan 4. So how did he do more?
And stop trying to bring his teammates down. D-Rob, Manu, Parker, and Bowen with Pop as Coach is a great cast.

Try to spin it your way. Sometimes stats are the truth when they support Kobe, if they don't, stats are uselss.

    Point is, you're a got!

Head to head you cannot deny Timmy has better stats....

As far as overall playoff stats, Tim still has better numbers.... prove otherwise.

I love when Kobe fans make excuses for Kobe.....he was young!! Don't count his first few years!!! I guess you are willing to forgive any Duncan stats that have gone down because of his four years of college near the end of his career?

Duncan won a championship averaging the most points, rebounds, assists, and blocks.... That is something Kobe could only dream about...
