With the amount of good DBs in the 2014 class, I just don't understand Huhn's offer.

2014 RB/FB Daniel Gresham and Fort Worth All Saints coach, Aaron Beck, give the latest on 2014 OL Demetrius Knox (24/7):

“Demetrius decided it wasn’t his time yet,” said the 5-foot-11, 225-pound Gresham. “He wanted to wait because he feels like he can help out the team. By that I mean that he feels like if he’s not committed anywhere, then more schools will come to All Saints to watch him, which will gain exposure for our other teammates. It will get them more recruiting interest as well.”

“I’m committed to Texas and we’re playing together in college,” Gresham told Hookem.com. “People can read into that how they want to. I’m not going to come out and say that Demetrius is going to Texas, because I don’t want to take anything away from his recruitment. I’ll just say that we’re going to the same school and I’m already a Longhorn, so you can figure that one out.”

“I think that a slower recruitment for Demetrius is better,” explained Coach Beck. “For Daniel, Texas is the perfect situation. He’s a fullback mainly and many schools don’t use them anymore. So when you have a great school like Texas knocking on your door, which has great academics and is a great team who uses a fullback, well, then you better answer that door. For Demetrius, everyone needs a tackle. Everyone, no matter who you are. He hasn’t gotten to see all the places like Daniel has, so it’s better for him to take it slow and make sure this is what he wants.”

“His mom wants him to visit other schools,” Beck said. “She wants him to see what everyone has to offer and make sure that it’s the right decision and fit for him. Don’t get me wrong, she loves Texas and the coaches there, but she wants him to be happy. She wants him to go visit, go look, go talk with coaches, ‘kick the tires’ and then make a decision. She knows her son loves Texas, Ohio State, Alabama and those types of schools, so she just feels like he needs to slow it down and check things out.”

“These guys are very close,” said Beck. “For many kids, especially with sop res who have received big offers, this is a whole lot to process. Kids get excited, they say ‘hey lets go to college together’ and have big plans to do it. But the reality of it happening is rare. It rarely lines up. With these two guys, they both have talent to do that. They both have the big time offer(s) to do that. They’ve told me for the last year or two, almost every time we talk about recruiting, that they want to go to the same school. I believe it has a good chance of happening here, even if it might take a while.”

Update on 2014 CB/S Tony Brown after receiving his Texas offer last Thursday (OrangeBloods):

"I was happy. My dad was telling me this is the first time they've ever offered players before their junior year," Brown said. "So it feels good to be part of a little bit of history. Now I want to prove their early offer was the right decision, become the No. 1 player like I feel I can be. I'll give my all this season, prove their offer correct."

"To be honest, I truly did have faith and belief in my dad. He just told me if I stick to the plan, give 110 percent in workouts, get in the weight room, do it on the field and show up in camps it will take care of itself," Brown said. "He said to leave it on the field and it will come out like that, so I had total faith and I believed him. I'm happy all this has happened to me, and I just thank God and try to stay humble."

"That they would go against their traditional ways, go out of their way to offer early, that's a big deal to me," Brown said. "I compare it to this - Texas doesn't change uniforms. If you're going to Texas, they're not changing their uniforms like a lot of other schools do. I almost feel like they changed something big like that, so it definitely goes into consideration."

"They had said ever since I left camp, they didn't want to have me thinking I'm only approved for an offer. He said I was one of the first guys they thought about doing this for and they just wanted to get it out of the way," Brown said. "He just said him and Mack Brown are really excited about giving me the offer early. He said hopefully it affects my decision, and it definitely will affect my decision. It's too early for anything final, but I have a good feel for Texas."

"I'm shutting it (recruiting) down. Next week, two-a-days start, so I'm ready to get in with my teammates, try to get the team to state, which I feel like we can do this year."

Quick quote from JUCO DE Kewan Alfred (24/7). Glad to know he's still in the mix:

"I'm still talking to Coach Giles," Alfred said. "He's called to check up on me and everything. I really hope to visit soon. Hopefully on a game day, because that would be really cool. I'm just waiting for my coaches to set it up with Texas, then I'll be there for sure."

According to a Rivals report, WR Devon Allen is currently in the process of setting up an official visit to Texas. The only official he has locked in at this point is Fayetteville for Arkansas/Alabama on September 15th. He also wants to get back to Ohio State but there is no date set.

Some disappointing news although things could change. Per Inside Texas, 2014 WR KD Cannon is going to stick with his plans to visit Baylor on Friday and OK State on Saturday. Sunday is open as of right now but it's not looking good for him to make the long drive back to Austin.

Some of you may remember OL Greg Brantley of Carthage who was almost offered by UT last year but he ended up signing with OK State. Well, he's already headed home for "personal reasons". This coming after they already lost their starting left tackle last week.

Despite Gresham committing, I'm not confident in getting Knox. Check out this interview with Hornsnation

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8247100

He says because UT is Gresham's only offer, they are his #1, but he hopes Ohio State offers him. Clearly tOSU is his childhood favorite and even if he does commit to UT, they are a threat anytime they offer Gresham.

There's no telling with Knox since he's probably going to be one of those guys that likes to play the game, but there's a post on 24/7 claiming that he and Gresham's Saturday visit to UT is back on. We'll see.

Latest with 2014 five-star OL Cameron Robinson of Monroe, LA (OrangeBloods):

"Since I transferred (high schools) I haven't been able to keep in touch with coach (Stacy) Searels. I heard he's been trying to get in touch with me, but it's been kind of hard because I switched schools," Robinson said. "He told the coaches at West Monroe about it and told them to tell me they have officially offered and that he would be in touch."

"It was fun. I had a lot of fun at that camp (Texas)," Robinson said. "Out of all the camps I've been to, their camp actually had the most compe ion. That was a real fun camp right there. I enjoyed myself a lot."

"It was cool working with coach Searels. A lot of stuff we did, we did at my old high school," he said. "It wouldn't be hard for me to adjust at all and coach Searels is a lot like my offensive line coach."

"Out of all the campuses I've been to I felt the most at home at those places (Bama, LSU and Texas)," Robinson said. "They're all very good football teams and places I could see myself playing for the next four years."

"It's been a smooth transition. Everything is going good. Everything is cool," Robinson said. "Preparations are going good right now. We're trying to get ready and get better each day so during the season we reach our goals that we have set for ourselves."

"I just try to go out there and play hard every snap and handle my business," Robinson said. "Whatever comes from that will just happen."

Update on WR Devon Allen of Phoenix, AZ (24/7):

“I talk to somebody from Texas about once a week,” said Allen. “Usually I hit them up through Facebook mostly, because it’s the easiest way for me to communicate with them since they can’t call me. Then I usually call them once every two weeks or so as well. I talk to both the football coaches and the track coaches about everything, so I’d say I’m in touch with them quite a bit.”

“One of the things I want to speak with Coach Wyatt about is setting up an official visit to Texas,” Allen told Hookem.com. “That’s something I definitely want to get set up. I don’t really have a set date in mind, because I have to look at my schedule first. I want to see if we’re playing any Thursday night games and, if so, that would be the best weekend to go. I would like to see them play West Virginia or Baylor if I could have my choice. I think those would be fun games to watch, so hopefully one of those will work out. I just don’t have anything planned out at the moment.”

“Obviously wanting to see Texas is a big priority,” explained Allen. “But I also want to see Arkansas, Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Mainly it’s just the schools that I haven’t seen yet and the ones that are interesting to me.”

“I just got back from my trips to the Midwest and California,” he said. “I really liked what I saw at all the schools.”

“The campuses were all beautiful,” Allen said of his many visits. “Notre Dame especially. The tradition at Michigan and Ohio State were pretty crazy. The fan base at those two were out of this world. Stanford’s ‘Monday Night Ball’ camp I attended was fun, and I got to visit the school again with my dad and sister. As for Cal, it went pretty well, too. I met the new receivers coach and track coaches, along with touring the facilities. All the visits were really cool.”

“I haven’t started cutting down my list yet,” Allen said. “I’ve been really busy lately so I haven’t had a lot of time to worry about recruiting. Plus I want to take some visits, both official and unofficial, to see some more schools before that starts happening. After that, I’ll cut it down some more.”

“I’ve thought about it some,” Allen said of when he would like to end his recruitment. “I’d like to commit before National Signing Day. That’s my goal is to get it over with when I find the right school. I obviously want to take my official visits and see how the schools stack up, but I would like to get it over with. Plus, I’d like to give the coaches my respect by committing so they can focus their efforts on other prospects besides me.”

Ready for 2015 yet?! Sop re RB Jacques Patrick of Orlando, FL already has a pretty sick offer list and he's a big fan of UT. He's planning on making a trip to Austin this season per 24/7:

"I'm definitely ready to get down to Texas," said Patrick. "I'm really excited about it. I want go come in for a big game so I can get a feel for the atmosphere. Maybe when they play Oklahoma or a team like West Virginia."
