What the does Orlando want Gasol for?![]()
Source http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--la...GlvbnM-;_ylv=3The Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged with the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers in a four-way blockbuster that could ultimately deliver superstar center Dwight Howard to the Lakers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

A deal is not considered imminent, but the talks have grown serious over the course of this week, sources said.
There are other players involved in these fluid talks, but a framework of the possible deal includes Howard and Denver forward Al Harrington going to the Lakers, Philadelphia guard Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Los Angeles center Andrew Bynum moving to the 76ers, and Los Angeles forward Pau Gasol and Denver guard Arron Affalo going to the Magic, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Magic would have a better chance of moving Gasol in another deal to get further assets, sources said, and eliminate the risk of Bynum leaving them as a free agent in 2013. Nevertheless, there was still a sense that Gasol's and Bynum's destinations could be fluid in the talks. Either way, one would go to Orlando and the other to Philadelphia, sources said.
The proposed deal includes the Magic also gaining draft picks and salary-cap relief, sources said.
That story is half true except the Lakers will be getting Iggy for Pau and Dwight to LA with Bynum and Pau going out...we'll then sign Kenyon Martin and Barbosa to fill out the roster![]()
Posturing. Either by Dwights people or Hennigan. But that is a horrible deal for a team that wants to rebuild. If this is another bluff attempt to get Houston to up offer, then they should pull the offer and let orlando get stuck.
If anything, the only team that really "wins" that trade are the Nuggets. Iggy wouldn't be a bad fit. Everything else doesn't really make sense, unless picks were to be involved, because the trade would make most of those involved worse.![]()
They want Pau because they feel he has good market value and can flip him for other assets. Although I don't see why on Earth you couldn't get as much for Dwight by himself(unless the fact Pau is under contract for 2 more years guaranteed is the value so he can't just be a rental for a team trading for him).
Lakers
Turning into the LA Knicks
No chemistry
Giving up the best frontcourt in the league for a Dwight rental
Kupcake with the Isiah-esque bads
Magic
Spent months holding out for young players and picks
Now probably getting Pau, Afflalo, and garbage picks at best
Proposed 4 team deal between Lakers, Magic, Nuggets and Sixers.
LAL get: Howard and Al Harrington
DEN get: Andre Iguodala
PHI get: Andrew Bynum
ORL get: Arron Afflalo, Pau Gasol, and picks (guessing from LA and DEN)
Clippers

buying a 95 million dollar chimpanzee
Both Lol Angeles Teams

Not without Pau... seriously, for as much as he takes, that cat was still our biggest matchup problem last year....
Am I the only one who thinks this trade makes no sense for the Lakers?
Pau/Bynum > Harrington/Howard
Al Harrington
Antawn Jamison
Kobrick Bryant
Steve Nash
Troy Murphy
Ron Artest

Are those players not TOSB's?![]()
Nope, Nash had the Suns fountain of youth medical magic and Kobe has dead baby fetus' in his knees.
The amount of desperation the Lakers are showing to get Howard is comedy. I hope they sign Martin as well. This massive failing attempt at building a super team has been hilarious. It has been over a month and they have failed so miserably at this.
terrible trade
Nash was a good addition, tbh, but I'm not sure about swapping Harrington/Howard for Bynum/Gasol..Harrington and Jamison are redundant, and Howard will be stuck carrying an entire defense once again, as he did in Orlando..
Howard is the best defensive player in the NBA, but he wants a larger offensive role, and he's aging with back concerns..I don't think he still wants to carry a defense at this point, with an abundance of defensive liabilities(Nash, Blake, Jamison, Harrington, Murphy, Kobe) and only 1 other above average defensive player(Artest)..
