Am I the only one who thinks this trade makes no sense for the Lakers?

    Pau/Bynum > Harrington/Howard
    Agree

Tony Mejia: NBA source says there would be nothing holding Denver or Philly from this deal, but its more Lakers and Magic exploring options. Not close. 3 minutes ago

Tony Mejia: Source: Exploratory. Option of moving Pau has always been there, but nothing Lakers are serious about, especially with Nash on board. FWIW 1 minute ago

yes I'd take iggy. Afflalo is good, but he under performed last year. Would still rather ditch Chandler though.

Philly and Denver would easily be the winners of this trade. Although getting Dwight, even if it means giving up Howard/Bynum would be potentially awesome still.

Plus, LA may be getting J-Rich too.

The Houston Rockets aren't dead quite yet.

Earlier today, a report featured the Orlando Magic in serious trade talks with the Los Angelels Lakers, Philadelphia Sixers and Denver Nuggets about a Dwight Howard blockbuster. Al Harrington, Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Arron Affalo were all players involved in the negotiations. Sports Illustrated is reporting that despite the significant nature of those talks, the Houston Rockets latest trade proposal for Howard is preferred by the Magic front office at this point in time.

    Via Sam Amick, Sports Illustrated
Orlando has engaged in extensive talks with Houston which remain alive as well, and a source with knowledge of the Rockets' latest proposal said it would afford the Magic more assets to their liking than the potential four-team trade.

With Orlando looking to clear salary cap space and rebuild via the draft, some have surmised that -- if the four-team deal goes through -- the Magic could trade Gasol for younger prospects or more draft picks at a later time. But given the current NBA landscape, with the new collective bargaining agreement and the devastating luxury tax set to kick in after next season, and the interest in a 32-year-old forward with a combined $38 million on his deal for the next two seasons will likely be limited, if only because of the immense payroll implications.

ty deal all around for LAL, Dwight is good but he's not worth two 7 footers as skilled as Bynum and Gasol and the Lakers already have a Harrington type player in Jamison.

Unless Houston magically pulls something off, Dwight is going to LA one way or another. As a Spurs fan, I hope the deal turns out something like this.

Lol, what do you mean, magically pull something off? L.A needs a third team at least to do a deal.

Pull something off to where THEY land Howard..

EDIT: Misunderstood. Sorry, I just think its a longshot that Houston will give up as many young assets and picks for a one year rental of Dwight that Orlando would want.

Well if Howard was going to be a Laker, he would have been one by now. The Cleveland-Orlando-Dwight story was leverage over Houston. This story is leverage over Houston. L.A. CANNOT deal for Howard straight up. Houston can.

Orlando has no leverage. Which is why they keep leaking stories like this. They want to rebuild and start over, but they say they want to deal for Gasol and Afflalo? Worst bluff yet. Dwight's not guaranteed to be a rental btw. He opted in to keep the extra money, meaning he didn't pass up 30 million dollars to go to the number one destination on his list (Brooklyn). Now, if he didn't pass up the money to go to his first option, why would he pass up that extra year to go to his last option?

It's actually more like 9 million over 5 years, he's going to play after 4 years you know.

dude's guaranteed to sign extension when his current term is up wherever he goes or if he stays, he ain't leaving the 30m on table only to join the team he wants to play for despite what he says imho. players just not that stupid to join a team w/ paycuts and to up themselves financially

Barring any last minute snag, D-Howard will be a Laker by tomorrow. Bynum will be in Philly. And we'll all expect a Lakers/Heat Finals.
