Now people are going to say that he is better than Swoopes bc Heard is our latest commit.
It will be years before either are the starting QB (assuming they will be). If Ash becomes a decent QB, he will be starting for 3 years, followed by Brewer who I definitely think will be good and people shouldn't forget about him. With both Swoopes and Heard having several seasons to play before college, and hopefully a redshirt year, they will be different players by the time they see the field here. It doesn't matter who is better, but I guess people have a sour taste about Swoopes because of the Opening (or whatever camp that was).
cochran and cobbs both back to practicing so great news there

More from 2014 S Jamal Adams (OrangeBloods):
"It went really well. When I got down there, I got to see the practice live," Adams said. "I got to see them scrimmage, meet a couple players. I talked to coach (Duane) Akina, coach (Mack) Brown. They're all great guys down there, very cool."
"Texas is holding steady. They're still high on my list and always will be."
"They just said to keep working hard, don't let anyone pressure you and make the right decision when it comes time," Adams said. "They said they hope I know they really want me, they think I can be a top DB to come through Texas. When they give those kinds of props, that's a good feeling."
"I talked to those guys (Jerrod Heard and Tony Brown). We took the tour together. We looked at the dorms, the new dorms they'll have in 2013. We had lunch, ate barbecue and had a good time," Adams said.
"I'm not deciding right now. Just know Texas is really high on my list, and I'm really interested," Adams said. "You never know what could happen in the next two years. But I haven't thought about it that much."

Great quote from 2014 QB Jerrod Heard after committing to UT (OrangeBloods):
"I kind of knew when they had interest, but I was just playing the field," Heard said. "When they offered I knew it was a done deal."
Weird update on 2014 KD Cannon after he visited both SMU and TCU last weekend. Recently he's listed OU and Texas as his two favorite schools, but after talking with SMU and TCU sites about his future, he isn't listing Texas at all and says he hopes to make a decision by the end of September. So much can change in two years but I thought it was an odd development.
247's top 247 list has been released (or updated?). Players of interest:
Ed Paris #11 *****
Tony Brown #16 *****
Solomon Thomas #25
Hoza Scott #29
Nick Watkins #30
Demetrius Knox #47
Nick Harvey #68
KD Cannon #72
Myles Garrett #74
Jerrod Heard #76
Donald Catalon #85
Jamal Adams #93
Edwin Freeman #117
Daniel Gresham #195
Lorenzo Joe #198
May have missed a couple guys, but overall the state of Texas has a lot more talent in this class. 2013 is pretty weak compared to this.

Some of the out of state guys we're recruiting in the top 100 -
#4 Cameron Robinson OL (LA) - legit shot, LSU/Bama/Texas three favs
#5 Leonard Fournette RB (LA) - longshot, most likely to LSU
#15 Raekwon McMillan LB (GA) - pretty open, likes Texas
#26 Nathan Starks ATH (NV) - unsure about
#63 Speedy Noil WR (LA) - huge LSU lean
lots of good prospects in 2014...

More on this from OrangeBloods...Cannon told them UT is indeed in his five top schools and he wants to make a decision at the end of his junior season, but nothing is set in stone.
Tough to read. The kid is from a very small town in the Piney Woods. He seems to be figuring it all out. I'm glad he's taking his time.
A&M has named Johnny Manziel their starting QB:

Update on OL/DL Andrew Billings from 24/7...he's reiterated that he will make a commitment before September 1st and there will be no official visits. He also mentioned that he had a difficult time not committing to Texas on the spot when offered and he may be in Austin this weekend with his family where they could meet with the coaching staff. With all of that said, Baylor is supposedly a legitimate threat so it's not a done deal. He attended one of their scrimmages recently and apparently liked what he saw.
Hopefully that picture of Diaz is a bit of foreshadowing for his defense this year. Photoshop material right there.
