Catchy guitar riffs off the top of my head:

Snow (hey oh)- red hot chili peppers
Say it ain't so- weezer

those few seconds where a song pulls you in...
should be short and have a clear beginning and end
anything better than...
maybe the runner ups...
love the Zeppelin riff because they keep building on it
the Motley Crue because of the simplicity

Classic rock got a lot of good riffs though...too many to name
Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
that's a good one...also have to mention Sultans of Swing at that point
Speaking of Van Halen and Zep, here's some of my favorites:
Sultans of swing is very catchy..their best song imo
with the video, there's no forgetting that riff
Van Halen has some of the most... this one pops into my mind immediately when I think of badass riffs:
