Back in the late 20's there was a blues cat out of Mississippi named Tommy Johnson (shown in O Brother Where Art Thou) he was the daddy of that sold my soul to the Devil at them crossroads story. One of his most famous songs was.."Canned Heat". That's where this band got that name. They were big time old blues fans.

Go ahead name all those bands I listed I haven't listened to. I thought you'd have learned your lesson, guess not.
I probably own CDs/records/tapes of about three fourths of those I mentioned. I don't however own a King Crimson anything. A buddy of mine is into them, there is one tune I like I'm thinking Devils and Wizards??? Very Cool!
    You were saying?

can't even name a King Crimson song

Do you think at all before posting? Do you honestly believe even I own CD's by everyone I've ever heard? Even on CD's I own some songs I don't know the name of. I've heard King Crimson and every one I mentioned.

I'd think you'd be thankful I didn't make a bigger deal out of how stupid you looked once I showed you how wrong you were about my music. I don't lie about music little one. Why would I?

Do I own more than a dozen books on music? Everything from jazz, rock, blues to country? Well?

I didn't ask you if you heard anything by King Crimson. My point is, why would you list King Crimson as a notable act from the 60's if you don't regularly listen to them? You can't even name a song by them, so what's the point of bringing up groups that you aren't even a fan of?

I'll go real real slow (you can do this moron)

I was listing some great groups of that period. Not CD's of mine. not favorites of mine. Yes I've heard all those bands and do have CD's by most of them but that was a moot point.

Dude, why you always looking to be a pest.

I'm not looking to be a pest. I am simply stating that one who can't even remember the name of any song by a band shouldn't use that band as an example of good music.

That went completely over your head, creepy racist. I put that in there because Avante always calls people on here immature, even though he acts immature himself.

Don't get involved when you don't know what you are talking about.

I've never heard anything by Bach. If asked about classical music I'm mentioning his name.

    See how it works?

I never saw Red Grange play football, if asked about great footballers from the 20's I'm mentioning his name?

    See how it works

I've never been to the Playboy Mansion if asked about......................

It depends on the question. If somebody asks me what are some good 60's rock bands, I definitely am not going to recommend them a band I haven't listened to enough to be able to remember the names of any of their songs. That's stupid.

Of the 60/70 gang all of them. Most on CD's. In that second gang about a dozen of them. The Black Keys!!!!

You really are dense aren't you?

While I 've heard a lot of Bob Marley and have CD's/tapes I'm not very familiar with Peter Tosh. I can't name one of his tunes but if someone asked me about reggae I'd mention his name, yep....reputation!!!!!!

    See how that works?

You really are this stupid, aren't you?

I'm not talking about reputation. Anybody can list bands that have good reputations. I am talking about music that YOU know and like. If that list of bands you posted is full of groups you aren't really familiar with (e.g., King Crimson), then the list is pointless.

Yeah - I'm not someone who generally places music from the 60's and 70's on a pedestal above everything else, but only a handful of the groups/artists he mentioned belong in the conversation with half of the groups/artists on Avante's list. The rest is just garbage.

How can one possibly say 'I'll beat your list with...' and start off with Grizzly Bear and Bjork?
you're acting like you know a lot about music yet don't understand why Bjork and Grizzly Bear would be on the list.
