Mitch is just using the location advantage to the fullest, something that the Knicks will never understand.
The Los Angeles Lakers are consistently among the NBA's best teams because they are the smartest franchise in the league, not just because they spend the most money…

^If the Knicks had a competent FO, the Het = F
cked. They may have more cash flow than the Lakers - but I'm not sure about det.
location? LA is closer to asia and mexico and yup they got a lot of yellows & be@ners to ride their wagon and fund team's skyrocketing payroll, and to act like dumbasses on message boards like ST
You have ONE team to compare yourself to. Small market teams have the rest of the small market teams.
You know, losing weight is all about being smart, and of course exercising and proper diet.
I could build a compe or for that payroll, no problem.
hmmmmmm... all the big trades mentioned in the article that the lakers have made in the last decade have been no brainers. i get the feeling that andrew sweat is probably NOT the smartest writer of the nba
True, where's their Ginobili or Parker? Kobe is the anomaly in LA in that he wasn't bought after someone else trained him. You don't have to be intelligent to buy a world class retriever, you have to be rich. You have to be smart to create one.
Mitch is in the same boat as Phil was tbh. Kinda hard to give either of them too much credit when they start off with a huge advantage over pretty much every other GM/coach in the league.
NY is a horrible location. The only reason the Yanks do so well location wise is cause they play in the summer when the climate isn't atrocious and they aren't competing with the nfl teams.
^I think the appeal of NYC goes way beyond just the weather, bro.
Suddenly the city of LA is paradise on earth and the rest of the US is a hole a la San Antonio... oh spurfan
Spurfan trying too hard to come up with reasons to discredit a smart FO that consistently brings the goods. Knicks, Clippers, Heat etc. There's a few other franchises with great cities and big bucks behind them and lack the Lakers championship pedigree.
"Sending Marc Gasol, two first-round picks and other players to Memphis in return for Pau Gasol"
other players.
They aren't the smartest but they make great use of their advantages unlike other big market teams.
The Lakers' front office is FAR from the smartest in the NBA, they just benefit from BS trades that any team in the league would make if they could, tbh.... the Heat, the Spurs, ChokeKC, Denver, and Indiana usually make SMART moves, , I'm even impressed with what Vinny's been doing in the Clipps' front office this summer....
Name the big market teams.
Monkeyballers front office negotiating:

New York, Boston.
Wow, Mitch Kupcake looks really busy working the phones there, tbh....![]()
Boston has more rings than LA, they swung the KG/Allen deal.
NY is the anomaly. They have the worst front office in the entire league, with the Bobcats possibly being right there neck and neck. Still, they made the playoffs 2 years in a row and would have a ring if Shumpert didn't go down (lol). They attract big names though.
You have to consider Chicago as well, and other than their Jordan years that they are still suckling from, they've been unremarkable save these past few years being pseudo contenders. Again, just as when Michael was around, they are too tight to spend money on talent.
These teams have fans that will pay big money to see someone like Jeremy Lin. They don't even need to win. Small markets must win in order to sell tickets.
Chicago has higher attendance than anyone in the league. The Lakers are 8th on that list with even Dallas and Portland ahead of them. Why do you think LA can spend that money to get those wins and not have a higher attendance? How does that work? Is it because their ticket price is through the roof? The average Lakers ticket price is 163.00 compared to 58.00 in San Antonio. Never mind their TV contract.
So despite the "smartest front office" claim, demand plays 90% of the role. It would take an idiot to that up.
So free agents wanting to play in la makes the organization smart? OK..
What a joke.
Yeah, signing Shaq was "smart". Really took some wits to sign the most dominant player of his generation when he wanted to be close to Hollywood.
child please, the lakers are just the richest team in the NBA, they buy their championships.
stupid gnsf take
If the Lakers bought their championships, they would've won every year.
