Meltdown, here we come. I foresee another drunken toilet hugging in my future this year.
What do you mean another? Celtics and Sox already sent you there this year?

I meant another, because that's what happened after the SB last year.

Pats cut both Stallworth AND Gaffney. Surprising, I figured only one would be cut. Looks like Branch will be the 3rd receiver. That means that when the Pats go five wide, we're likely to see Lloyd, Welker, Branch, Gronk and Hernandez. That's a pretty fearsome lineup.

This also means they'll prolly run with 5 receivers (Edelman and Slater being the other 2), and keep 5 running backs (Ridley, Vereen, Woodhead, Bolden, Demps).

I hear some say this means they're prolly keeping Ebert but he's been so bad from what I've seen I sure as hope not.

As long as Welker remains Brady's number 1 target, no reason to think they can't be in the Super Bowl again

So here's what I'd want the roster to look like:

QB - Brady, Hoyer, Mallet (3)
RB - Ridley, Vereen, Bolden, Demps (4)
    FB - (0)
TE - Gronk, Hernandez, Fells (3)
WR - Lloyd, Welker, Branch, Edelman, Slater (5)
OT - Solder, Vollmer, Cannon (3)
OG - Mankins, Waters, Thomas, McDonald (4)
    C - Connolly, Wendell (2)
    Total Offense: 24

    NT - Wilfork, Love (2)
    4-3 DT/3-4 DE - Brace, Deaderick (2)
4-3 DE/3-4 OLB - Jones, Ninkovich, Cunningham, Scott, Bequette, Francis (6)
4-3 LB/3-4 ILB - Mayo, Hightower, es, Carpenter, Koutouvides, Tarpinian (6)
CB - McCourty, Arrington, Dowling, Moore, Denard, Cole (6)
    S - Chung, Gregory, Wilson, Ebner (4)
    Total Defense: 26

    Specialists:
    K: Gostkowski
    P: Mesko
    LS: Aiken
    Total Specialists 3

Outside of a few things that's also how it's most likely to end up.

Offensively, Belichick is prolly gonna keep Woodhead and go with 5 RBs which is a waste of a roster spot especially for a pass first team. While Lloyd makes their receivers better than last year there is a lack of depth at the position given Edelman and Slater are ST players for the most part. Gronk and Hernandez are obviously expected to have another huge year. The O-line is in better shape after Vollmer played well in the last preseason game and will probably be ready week 1. The interior of the O-line will depend completely on Waters. If he doesn't come back then I think the O-line ting the bed at the wrong time in the playoffs is something we can expect.

Wilfork, Love, Brace and Deaderick are locks as the 4 interior linemen with Pryor hopefully coming back after week 6. The concern there is the lack of bodies if the same thing as last season happens where they want to use more 3-4, but the lack of bodies also indicates how much they think Love and Brace will do this year. They're loaded with depth at DE but the trio of Jones/Ninkovich/Cunningham is very unproven. Bequette's draft position is the only reason he's making the roster as both Scott and Francis have been better. Mayo/Hightower/ es is great against the run but there isn't much speed, and that tells me they plan on using a lot of 4-2-5 this year, which brings me to the secondary. The chances of them keeping 6 corners is slim to none, but Wilson and Ebner have both been better than expected at safety and the 5th safety was gonna be a strictly special teams player. With the injuries they have at corner every year and the necessity of depth at corner in the NFL, having both Moore and Denard seems more important than a 5th safety who can't play safety but plays special teams.

Well two surprise cuts already, Branch and Hoyer. Hoyer makes sense granted I thought he might have been able to fetch a late pick, Branch being cut hopefully means there's a receiver they plan on picking up because right now they only have two receivers who actually play receiver.

Very surprised on cutting Branch. Mildly surprised Koutavides didn't make it either. A few other special teamers (Ihidegbo or however you spell it) was cut too.

    Welcome back Branch...

    and Koutovides for that matter.

And at releasing Salas... Guess Josh McDaniel's vouching for him wasn't quite enough.

They're schedule sets them up for no worse than 14-2.
    psssssh.
Good luck on going 13-1 the rest of the way.

Dec when 9er comes to town prolly gonna be Randy Moss catching his 10th t.d. of the year as Brady gets picked 3Xs.
    28-13 49ers.

I dunno here's Mul roll in advance:

Now before people go ape- , consider a few things:

-They're 9-2 in their last 11 games, despite shaky-at-best QB play.

-Of those 2 losses, one of them was a close one-possession loss at Cincy last year--the other was a 23-7 loss @SF before Thanksgiving.

-The defense has quietly been of the best in the league going back to last year.

-They haven't given up more than 23 points in a game since 10/30/2011--a game in which they blew a 24-3 lead @Baltimore.

If nothing else, I think you definitely have to BUY their defense being the real-deal
    and

Don't sleep on the Cards' D as they went up to Foxboro, sight of the massacre a few years back, and beat one of the supposed Super Bowl contenders. Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett and Patrick Peterson are holding that side of the ball up. I would say that the QB will be the undoing unfortunately. I need Larry Fitz to start picking up some FF pts though...the running game is kinda horrid. I'm going to have to sell though I want to buy.
but yeah i don't think anyone here laid money on the Cards.

Not sure what all the fuss about. The Pats will win that candyass division so it really doesn't matter what we see right now. As we know the Playoffs are a different beast.

So Kellen Winslow asked to leave the team. That was fun. Quick, get your jerseys! Half off!
