I love RATM but don't agree with much of their politics either. They are so far to the left as to be almost comical.

Morello graduated from Harvard, so the fact that this piece is so well written isn't a surprise.

He's also one of the greatest guitarists I've ever had the pleasure to listen to

    a quote from Morello

"I never had any real desire to work in politics but if there was any ember burning in me, it was extinguished working in that job because of two things: one of them was the fact that 80 per cent of the time I spent with the Senator (Alan Cranston-D), he was on the phone asking rich people for money. It just made me understand that the whole business was dirty. He had to compromise his entire being every day. The other was the time a woman phoned up to the office and wanted to complain that there were Mexicans moving into her neighborhood. I said to her, 'Ma'am, you're a damn racist,' and she was indignant. I thought I was representing our cause well, but I got yelled at for a week by everyone for saying that! I thought to myself that if I'm in a job where I can't call a damn racist a damn racist, then it's not for me "

So if Paul Ryan is from the establishment and evil, where does Obama come from and don't say Kenya or Africa? It's a rhetorical question since Obama, Biden, Ryan, and Romney all work for the establishment and are big government tools and big spenders.

Paul Ryan is such a transparent poser, tbh..... you can't be an "outsider" when your policies are garden-variety neocon and you're running with Willard, tbh.....

Dee Snider doesn't want his music as part of Paul Ryan's schtick either:

Wouldn't a musician want anyone as a fan? I mean if you are trying to be successful, wouldn't you want to have fans from all walks of life because of the whole word of mouth thing? Person A likes a certain band or singer and tells Person B about it and it goes on and on and on and a fanbase forms. Not trying that it's 100 percent all the time like that. I'm just saying that liberal celebs should the up about it and be thankful that they have the fans that they have despite political differences.

As far as I can tell, musicians aren't asking Ryan to stop being a fan. They're asking him to stop playing their music in his political rallies. I guess it makes sense if they don't share the same political views and don't want the band associated with those views.

And he embodies the exact opposite of the band's message.

Apparently, being a fan of something but not trying to act like that something isn't all that rare.

Yeah, morello's skin color wasn't che's favorite no top of being a musician.

This seems to happen every 4 years or so. When will Republicans learn to just stick with Toby Keith songs?

Personally, lyrics are the last thing I listen to. I like many bands that sing about stuff I don't necessarily agree with but i'm all about the music first.

Nobody listens to music for the lyrics. If an artist in a genre of music you do like has lyrics that you enjoy, all the better, but if you like hip hop you're not going to start listening to a country artist just because he's got some lyrics you'd enjoy.

I don't know, I have a hard time thinking Joe Lieberman would listen to a Neo-Nazi Jazz band because he likes the percussion.

Well, you can't generalize, IMO. Some people like the tunes and some people identify with the message. I doubt guys like Yoni would love music preaching how cool Barry is, regardless of the melody.

RATM actually has a fairly strong message attached to the music.
