    In July, the Denver Nuggets amnestied the colorful character that many know as Chris “Birdman” Andersen has he had played limited minutes and seemed to forever be in George Karl’s dog house, but looks as if the Bird could have a new nest to protect as he’s rumored to have interest in the Miami Heat. I am sure Nuggets fans are thrilled (sarcasm) with this one:
    The Heat also have attracted the interest of free-agent center Chris Andersen, who recently bypassed a lucrative European offer and is believed to be amenable to a Heat offer at the NBA minimum salary, which is all the Heat, operating above the NBA salary cap, have available. Andersen was released earlier this summer by the Denver Nuggets under the league’s amnesty provision that eases a team’s luxury-tax liability.
    Birdman played in only 32 games last season, with one game start, averaged 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, and while man cringe when Bird attempts a jump shot, the truth is you don’t need him to take jump shots…you need him to rebound and shot block. However, it will be interesting if Miami does reach out to Andersen or a person like Blatche.
