"Dreams of" would convey "these are my dads dreams" (not necessarily mine)
"Dreams from" conveys "these are dreams I inherited from my father"

One of the things the movie goes over as well as the way his mom idealized his father is that they kept corresponding a long time after they met.
In any case, if his fathers views hadn't helped shape his life why would he write a book at all about that, regardless of the le?
