Both teams are either tied or leading in the Top9 right now...and th're both tied atop the division still. Fun race, especially since the loser get the A's in a one game playoff

What happens if Yankees, Orioles, and A's wind up with the same record at the end of the season? How many extra games are played in that scenario?

Since there are two wild cards this year, I think the Yankees and Orioles would play a one-game playoff to determine who wins the AL East and then the loser of the one game playoff would play the A's in the wild card game.

That assumes that there is no non-division winner with a better record.

Since the O's have a better divisional record than NYY, wouldn't they automatically get the AL East nod, or does baseball work differently? I think they finished even in their season series iirc

From wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth, but:

"Beginning in the 2012 season, two teams that are tied for a division championship play a tie breaking game even if both teams have already qualified for the postseason (meaning one of them would be awarded a wild card berth)."

Their relievers are very solid, just a shaky Rotation IMO.

The good thing about Baltimore possibly becoming a surprise late season addition to the postseason this year is they're in the AL, so they don't apply to the whole "Rangers Can't Beat Team of Destiny That Clinched On Last Day in World Series" curse. But I am rooting for them to curb-stomp Oakland tonight.

Loving how everyone is jumping on Baltimore's bandwagon.

What is it exactly? The universal hate for the Yankees or the fact that Orioles is just winning and that by itself brings the "fans" out from under their rock after all these years?

I dont really like the Yankees myself but I'm certainly not going get on the Orioles because they came out of nowhere to cheer from them.

And Cardinals lose yet another 1 run game, it's just assumed they will always lose close games now. Wish they could close out games and get some luck like the Orioles
