Encouraging quotes on 2014 WR KD Cannon from an anonymous source (24/7):

"He's saying that he's open but it sounds like it's all Texas," said a source. "Texas appears to be the top school on his radar for sure. Don't be surprised at all if they land him in the end."

"When he got that offer from Texas, it was like getting his dream school offer," the source said. "He just wants to be sure and also wants to take a look around. Who can blame him? He's a kid and people forget that. But I can tell you for sure that Texas is sitting in the best place with him. They have the best shot out of anyone."

Latest with JUCO DE Randy Gregory after breaking his fibula in practice (24/7):

“It actually happened in practice,” explained Gregory. “We were practicing and next thing I know, I broke my fibula. I’m out for the season. I don’t expect to play at all anymore this year. I hate it, but there’s nothing I can do, you know?”

“Obviously he (Giles) can’t come see me play now, which I hate even worse than being injured,” Gregory said. “But luckily they are going to continue to recruit me. They have a lot of film of mine from last season and the first game or two of this season. So they can review that and we can go from there. They actually told my coaches that they still will continue to recruit me, so that’s big for me. I really appreciate that they will keep on, because most schools wouldn’t. That says a lot about them.”

“I’ll wait to see what Coach Giles tells me first. If they’re serious about recruiting me and an offer might come, then I’ll definitely take a visit, for sure,” said Gregory. “If not, then I really don’t know. I’m going to play it by ear and see. I really hope to though.”

“I have offers from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa St, Indiana and others, but I’m sticking with Purdue right now,” Gregory told Hookem.com. “I will take some other visits, probably to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri for sure, but I’m still solid with Purdue.”

“It would give me a lot to think about (if Texas offered),” he said. “There’s no denying that. Texas is a great school with a lot going on for it. You would be crazy to not want to be a part of that.”

24/7 also mentioning the staff is trying to get 2014 CB/S Tony Brown and his sister (the track star) down to Austin for the West Virginia game. He's already stated he'll be in Dallas for Texas/OU.

So you were only concerned about AAU after he dropped his commit from texas?

Actually, reports out there that the Texas coaches just put pressure on RSJ to commit and not take visits. When he didn't commit they then decided to focus on other recruits. RSJ supposedly heard via internet that the Texas coaches were not recruiting him further and was not happy about it - as according to him Texas was still in the lead. No substance at this point to any claims about AAU or anything of the sort.

If this turns to be true we stopped recruiting him just b/c he would not commit I will not be happy - he is too big a talent to get arrogant about and IMO the #1 recruit in Texas.

Makes me wonder if injury or personal issues are a concern with coaches?

Texas has repeatedly rolled out the red carpet, and he's done nothing but play games. Sounds like he doesn't even know which sport he wants to play.

I dont get what happened with this one but its very dissapointing regardless. It also sucks that we as the fans may never know the entire truth to this recruitment.

Any news on the "sudden" Priest Willis interest?
Could be a indication that they arent so confident with Vonn Bell or Harris. Inspite of doing a exellent job with harris' recruitment, they still know that Florida is gonna be a strong compe or even if we flat out out recruit them, just based off of the conveniency of proximity with Florida and the fact that his father went there.

Whatever. His son just got kicked to the curb because he wouldn't stop the dramafest. Of course he is going to say that.

RSJ wanted to continue to string Texas along and they were no longer playing that. They are too good of a recruiting school to let one high profile kid hold them hostage. Perhaps this winds up being a blessing in disguise.

If RSJ goes to TAMU then that will be RSJ, Thomas Johnson, Derrick Griffen, and EZ... Now I'm not an aggie fan, but i'f those guys pan out that could be a deadly receiving corps. Knee injury or not there is zero reason why we should stop recruiting a kid that could easily be an early playmaker on offense and defense...

I noticed that RSJ's dad merely said Texas led, not his son would have signed with Texas on Signing Day. Two very different things. Why take the drama into Signing Day when Hunter Jr. and Devon Allen are right there?

    Time to move on fellas.

Gonna have to disagree with the comments here. RSJ is the best player in state and the Texas staff is paid top dollar to put in long hours to reel in talent that wins championships. Getting the 5* players will always be 100x harder b/c everybody puts it all on the line resource wise b/c guys like this win championships. To act like Texas is above this when the Bamas, USCs and LSUs grind out these recruitments does not make sense to me. Regarding Hunter Jr and Devon Allen, they are simply not the same caliber player nor do they have the upside of RSJ.

I can assure you there is more to the recruitment than we will ever know. Although I do not want to pass speculation off as fact, we do know he de-committed without the knowledge of his high school coach who was shocked at the news. Then, his AAU coach became involved in his recruitment and made a trip to Austin with RSJ. I don't want treat this as shenanigans just because he is getting help from his AAU coach b/c lots of these people could be good role models in a recruits life. However, I don't see how Texas would just drop RSJ based on speculation we didn't want to deal with prima donnas - when we wait for several top recruits to the end every year. That just doesn't make sense.

How do we know that RSJ is the best player in the state? Because Ketch and Rivals says so? No single player is good enough to get worked up over losing. As good as Vince was he still had another 27 guys on that roster that made it to the NFL besides him.

I remember when we cried about losing Calhoun and Washington, neither has panned out.

Remember the can't miss Fred Rouse or Perrloser

RSJ is no can't miss prospect, he is going to be a TE by the time he reports to camp and he doesn't want to accept this fact.

Now I don't know if RSJ is being manipulated, but Texas has 2 guys committed that have season ending knee injuries. Both are lesser prospects than RSJ. So we know not recruiting him has nothing to do with his injury.

We recruited Jeffcoat to the end same with Hicks and a few guys we missed on, so we know we are willing to stick it out as kids drag out their recruitment.

So why do we stop recruiting a kid like him?

I think we know the real reason, it's the fire at the root of all that smoke.

Per OrangeBloods, Texas has been in contact with WR Robbie Rhodes in the past week. Highly doubtful that this is the first time they've contacted him since he committed to Baylor, but good to know there is still communication. Also have to consider Arkansas could throw some money at Briles once the season ends.
