Lupe Fiasco is sooooo DIRECT HIT and COMPLETE MISS. " Bad" and "Lamborghini Angels" show the genius, but doing the TROY sample/whatever is just too much for ANYONE to pull off. That track is classic, that flow is classic, nothing he could do with that and it just feels wasteful no matter how good Lupe's rap is.

Take Lupe's best tracks, and he's up there with Nas/Wu/Jay Z whoever else people think have awesome beats/rhymes. But he can't make a complete record.

That said, still better than 85% of everything else out there from any genre.

I don't know man, I really really like Around my Way but its probably because the actually content of the lyrics. I agree the orginal track is really tight and its pretty damn hard for Lupe to it up but I think he delivers.

I must agree. He did 'TROY' justice more than anyone I could've imagined. I know Pete Rock was butthurt about the whole thing but the track is tight.

And yeah, Lupe is back. He looked like a schizo recently so I worried.

From the three tracks I heard, Around My Way is absolutely pointless, Bad is terrible, and Lamborghini Angels is meh.

Eh.. wanted to like it more than I actually did. Definitely better than Lasers and started strong but just left me kind of flat. Think I gotta give it a couple more listens through.

Its a good album. where he went wrong is naming it food and liqour 2. its not really a sequal to me but still solid.
