Ultimately, though, common sense is known as such because it's stuff we (individually/collectively) all think everyone should know. Not because it actually exists as universal knowledge or as universally defined. All relationships should start with a conversation (or several conversations) that establish the rules or that define the parameters. Silently assuming that your partner defines monogamy the same way you do is just silly.
