With only 1 game left in week 5 of the NFL season, you might notice something a little different about the league's statistical leaders.
He might not have the same number of passing attempts as guys like Tom Brady or Drew Brees, but Alex Smith is passing the football at a remarkably efficient rate, which has resulted in him leading the NFL with a 108.7 passer rating.
It probably helps that he played the Bills yesterday. They're the same team that made Tom Brady look nearly perfect in the 2nd half of their Week 4 matchup, and they made Smith look... well, Brady-esque.
Smith completed 75% of his passes for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Bills. Sure, that was a bit of an anomaly, but it wasn't the only good game that he's had.
His performance against the Jets was nothing to write home about, but the 49ers still won 34-0. In wins against the Lions and Packers, he threw 2 TD each, against zero interceptions.
