The #Spurs have announced Tyler Wilkerson has been waived

    --

Not surprising by the amount of minutes he got in preseason and even the scrimmage. I wonder if he wasn't that impressive in practice? Would have been nice for him to get some extended minutes in game.

I'm surprised that he was waived before Witherspoon. Maybe he already has some contract lined up overseas.

Witherspoon is legit dude. I'll go as far to say he even has a chance to make the roster as an inactive. If not, he's a lock to go to the Toros.

I liked Wilkerson in summer league(s) and thought it'd be interesting to see him play against NBA compe ion to see if any of it translated. However, he never got that chance ... even going back to the scrimmage.

The one aspect that hurt him was a lack of energy. In the few minutes he did play, he was playing too "cool" rather than going all out and fighting like it's life or death.

It is obvious he wasn't going to beat out Curry or Powell. No need to waste his time or ours.

It's not really a surprise. The battle for the 15th is a 2 man race between Powell and Curry.

Anyway, good luck to Wilkerson. He may not have a NBA future but he will surely have a long and successful career in Europe because he is a solid player. I wouldn't be surprised to see him ending as a starter for a top team in Europe relatively soon.

Had to find the original tweet I posted in the "Top 15 Bigman candidates" thread (by the way, new search is awesome) to find the twitter handle for the agent who originally tweeted Tyler was going to join the Spurs vet camp. He changed it but after some research found his new one.

Great find ace3g. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I know he turned down guaranteed money in Europe to come to camp. Hopefully he lands on his feet.
