Avante, please post in your own 49er threads as I would like to keep this one free from the endless, idiotic, back and forth arguments you have with your ever-growing legion of haters (mostly justified, imo)
Since I know you'll post in here anyway, just ignore people when they troll you, please. I know it's hard, but lets try and keep this about football ----> Meaning... no blues, sprinters, or other anecdotes from your life
If you want to talk about Alex Smith, do it in your own threads or here instead of creating a completely unneeded new thread like you did last time. I'm asking nicely
If you neglect these rules, I will call Greg Oden and request that he DarkSlap you with his enormous nightstick
Now, on to football.
Been an interesting war of words going on between the Niners and Giants over the past week. Harbaugh just came back after Gilbride called out Justin Smith. Can't wait for this game
“He does as good a job of grabbing a hold of offensive linemen and allowing those twists to take place,” Gilbride said. “He never gets called for it, so he gets away with murder.”

'Second, it is an incendiary comment targeting one of the truly exemplary players in this league. It's obvious that the Giants coaching staff's sole purpose is to use their high visibility to both criticize and influence officiating.'

I'm interested to see how the 49ers do against the much improved West. Last year was a cakewalk. Their 4 wins have come against average to ty teams, while their loss came to a surprise good one. Can't wait until the Cardinals/49ers matchup end of the month.
Agreed.
It's going to be as physical as it gets in every single matchup.
As I see it, there's no way the Niners waltz through unscathed. Somebody will jump on them, probably on the road, and expose Smith for what he is.
I don't see the Seahawks changing much on offense as the year wears on, but there is definitely some potential from the Rams and Cards to improve on what they are now. That would close the gap significantly on the Niners, imo
I'm also looking for the West to inject a wild-card team into the playoff equation this year for the first time in what seems like forever (since 04')
49ers lost to the Cardinals last year. I expect two losses in division. I see the Cards as 3-3. Same with Rams. Seahawks could be, but I think Wilson s the bed vs. good defenses at least once at home.
Sounds fair.
It's worth noting that the Rams/Cards are similar in style to the Vikings. Hard-nosed defenses with so/so offenses. Vikes showed that if you come out and punch the Niners in the mouth and beat em' at the line of scrimmage then they are a vulnerable team.
I was really glad SF took that lesson early in the season. Will help them in the weeks ahead to look back and remember what can happen when you're not ready and/or complacent
Within two years, with all their early picks, the Rams will be legit contenders. I don't trust Bradford, give him a good line and a strong running game and he'll manage similar to Smith.
Great idea, lets stick to talking football (I will be ignoring the trolls)
The Niners are a better home team than the Giants are a road team, as we know the last two times the Giants played in Niner country they lost and should have lost. I don't see the Giants where they were at late last season and I see the Niners better than ever.
The Niners are giving up a league low 68 points, the Giants have given up 114 so far. So we have the better defense playing at home. The Giants and Niners about even as far as points scored.
Other than that lost to the Giants in the Championship game the Niners are 9-1 in their last 10 home games.
Shouldn't be all that close.

It's all good if you ignore the attacks
Giants are still an incredibly good team... But I have to go with the Niners in this one as well. They're fired the up and Harbaugh wants this bad. Expect the A game from SF
No worries I'm done talking to those not talking football.
Like I said it shouldn't be close. Right now the Niners are looking great, thrilled to see Hunter getting his carries (which also keeps Gore fresh). What's up with LaMichael James? I saw him as a "out in space" guy, sorta like Sproles (I wish).
I can see...28-13. Niners pretty much dominating.
I think the Giants will score more than that and I would call it a bit closer. 27-20, imo.
Hunter is developing quite nicely. Very good to see.
and even though I still don't like Kap in the wildcat, I have to admit that you're right about him adding another dimension that teams must prepare for. Wish they'd let him throw it, though
I wouldn't use Kap in the wildcat, I'd have him under center. Now will he throw, will he run? The guy didn't do what he did at Nevada and not be able to throw, he can throw. Inside the red zone he'd be perfect.
Kendall Hunter is quick, Let Gore wear down the D then here comes Hunter in the middle of the third quarter with those fresh legs very a weary D.
Unless the Giants get a ST score I don't see it that close.
That's actually what I said about Kap in your thread. He needs to be dual threat, not just a guy who's gonna run it around the edge
If done right I can see this Kap situation being a real weapon. What we are doing right now has me grinning from ear to ear, stoked over tomorrows game.
Cards can beat the niners only if the niners special teams coach becomes overconfident and goes full re by punting to PP21.
Special teams is the only vulnerability of this team.
I was under the impression the Niners had the best ST's in the league.
Cards are better and I think the Rams are too with the addition of their kicker and their super accurate punter.
Sans their 2 fumbles against the Giants last year
Another completely wrong prediction. You need to stop making predictions. No, seriously, you do. You've been wrong every single time.
Avante
Thinking he's an NFL expert
Constantly wrong
Thinking Alex Smith will ever win a SB
49ers
The Niners are getting their ass kicked.
I was wrong about the Niners...Big time. Despite the score, the defense still played well other than giving up a lot of rushing yards which is uncharacteristic. They didn't really let Eli get off and the Giants got a majority of their points on a short field thanks to Alex smiff
Alex Smiff is awful, and just showed yet again that he is totally and completely incapable of doing anything once the Niners are behind. I literally knew it was over when the deficit grew over 7 points. That's bad, and you wonder if Harbaugh, Roman, and Baalke see it too... They must. It's ing time to sell some draft picks or a couple of their best defensive players so they can either draft high (top 5) or bring in a legitimate franchise quarterback
franchise QB>top 5 defense
Niners are still a playoff team because they'll continue to beat teams they're supposed to, but they are at best 4th or 5th in the conference and 6th or 7th overall
