since when one need 160 years to give a prize ? your comeback is pathetic. In 60 years of existence EU members have lived in peace which didn't happen since forever, just that is already a great achievement.
I was being generous. The EU and European peace could be conversation pieces within twenty years.

European peace for 60 years is impressive. Doubt you could have done it without the US umbrella of defense, though.

Did they claim that the EU was an external peacemaker.
lol characterizing the Balkans as external to Europe and Europe as external to the conflict, when in fact hasty European recognition set the fuse and ham handed European diplomacy worsened it.

Better yet, sunshine, what/who do you think should have gotten it?
No opinion on that. Isn't it customary to give the award to people?

not knowing the EU member states not including the former Yugoslavian states. What do external mean?

the only characterization is you with 'fuse' and 'ham fisted' poetry boy. if you are going to be poetic learn what you are doing.

EU as peacemaker? what about the Balkans?

this morning in Forbes Doug Bandow pointed out that premature recognition of seceding territories surely helped precipitate the war, the EU was essentially powerless to limit violence and war, and, once it started, did little but hold Washington's coat while it bombed the out of Serbia.
First: Who the is Doug Bandow and the does he know? Slovenia declared independence on June 25th, Yugoslavian army attacked on June 26th, Germany has not recognized Slovenia until December that same year. Maybe there would be less bloodshed if USA wouldn't be such pals with Miloševič and embargoed the new states from getting weapons for defense. If it's one thing you can count on in USA foreign policy, it's that they always pick the wrong side.

Second: I am so putting "2012 Nobel Peace prize" on my CV

the Norwegian Peace Council has called for the resignation of the head of the nobel committee after it awarded the peace prize to the EU. the peace council said, "Granting the EU the Nobel Peace Prize for 2012 indicates its highly political dimension, awarding it to a project that for the past year has proven to represent the opposite of peace. The EU suffers from an extensive democratic deficit, with violations of human rights along increasing social inequality."

Norway is not a member of the EU. FWIW, Norway is about as close to true socialism as you will find.

the peace prize should go to US every year imho if it's eligible to be awarded to an organization rather than a natural person. w/o US regulating the whole the world would've seen 6 world wars already, with the 7th coming soon
