Well this is my first post ever in the political form and I am doing so becuase I am 18 just graduated high school last june and have registered to vote. Now im not completely oblivious to politics I understand some basic things about it like the two party system, electoral votes, and the debates and campaigning the candidates do during the running for president.
Getting to my point though once I decide I was going to vote I immediatly thought to vote for Obama as most of my family are democrats and he was for the middle class and poor. The reasons most people were telling me to vote for Obama didn't seem to really make much sense to me it was usually just because I was obligted to do so as a middle class citizen but this is a man who is going to run the damn country so I started looking into him and government in general and my findings are that Obama may not be the president I thought he was and the goverment is a lot more corrupt than I thought, so I went pocking at the elephant ass side candidate Romney and well he is just a ing morin in my opinion.
After realizing these two candidates are not exactly who I would vote for I started looking at some other candidates and found Ron Paul. Now at first I liked Ron Paul he semmed like a honset american and I liked some of his ideas he had but he just seems like a bit of nut case the more and more I looked at him but still looking at the debates he just seemed to take Romney to school I dont understand why he is not the GOP's candidate running for president. All in all my point is I just don't see how the america has gotten to the point were the only two candidates just don't seem to know what the they are doing should I just not vote.
Your vote doesn't mean in Texas anyways; might as well cast a ballot for Quanell X or WC's mother.
Voting isn't only about the presidential race, although far too many people make the mistake of treating it that way. There's still going to plenty of state and local elections, bond measures and propositions on the ballot. Even if you're disgusted with the pair of bozos red team and blue team have given us as presidential candidates I encourage you to visit the website for whatever County you live in, find a sample ballot and educate yourself on the other races/measures/propositions on there. The smaller the election, the bigger your voice.
If you plan on participating in this forum, you should vote for Ron Paul. That way you'll be enamored, rather than annoyed, by all the spam.
18 year old boy?
Stay the away from my daughter!
- involuntary response.
The key is to not think about you own needs. Vote as if you are voting for your future children and their children. Heath care, debt, jobs , the future? Make your decision from there.
Write in Ron Paul, the only honest person in the race....
Don't make the mistake thinking either candidate, Democrat or Republican, really gives a about you or your family.
Also, accept that cost of living for a middle class citizen will go up regardless of who wins.
Well thanks for all the info well definitely look into all the suggestions being made here very informative things I learned.
This x a million. Those bond elections and local government elections will impact your life a lot more directly than the presidential race.
Yeah, if you don't do anything else, vote against that city of SA preK4 initiative.
I'd say Medicare being replaced with a voucher system would affect his life pretty directly.
By the time he is 65 medicare, will have gone through about 10 administrations. There will have been many variations and changes by the time that rolls around.
the grandpa paul is a lofty person and would be a great president for this country, but you can't be honest and win the election in this country IMHO. the mormon lied so he became the republican candidate, obama is a liar which's why he won the election 4yrs ago
Truth
Son by the way a bit off topic, but regarding local government ... when (if ever) do you think the state of Texas will "grow up" and allow casinos over there? Now I'm not some huge gambler by any means, but I have always found it comical that Texas is so against them. Louisiana (particularly Lake Charles and Shreveport) make a fortune off of people driving over from Texas to get their gambling fix in.
Probably before the state of LA grows up and builds real levies. Too bad that "fortune" doesn't go to protect people living there, but the governor's mansion looks great.![]()
LOL son you are literally too ignorant to insult.
I agree. Dumb, Dumb, dumb. San Antonio could take Fox Tech High School (25 acres right in the heart of downtown) Do a riverwalk extension from the old Ursuline Academy and do a casino district on the extension that would be freaking amazing. Being a bilingual city we would steal all the rich mexican national business from Vegas.
Louisiana is one of the reasons Texas doesn't have casinos along with OK and NM.
The Casino would suck up all the disposable money...have you ever been to a bingo hall?....those people are crazy...
..but being that gambling is all around us....Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mexico....I don't see how TX can hold off much longer and let $$$ flow out of the state...
You should worry more about your daughter staying away from the boys.
Not on this board, but this is the third or fourth time I've heard someone try and dissuade someone from voting against Romney/Ryan's Medicare voucher scheme because it either won't be enacted or won't be effective when I retire. ty policy proposals are ty policy proposals and people who disagree with it should vote against the dumbasses who propose them.
