--- (CNN) -- It is about to get a bit more difficult to illegally download TV shows, movies or music online.

A new alert system, rolling out over the next two months, will repeatedly warn and possibly punish people violating digital copyrights. The Copyright Alert System was announced last July and has been four years in the making.

If you use AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Time Warner, or Verizon as your Internet service provider, you could receive the first of one of these notes starting in the next two months. -

---- If a customer feels they are being wrongly accused, they can ask for a review, which will cost them $35 according to the Verge.

You have to pay $35 to prove your innocent? What a joke.

If you use public torrent sites you're kinda asking for it. Sucks that the providers are in the entertainment industry's pockets but it is what it is.

Using a public streaming site is pretty dumb too. I wouldn't imagine they would draw a line there.

Is this going to affect downloading stuff through links like Rapidshare and so on? If so I'm ed. lol

I dont use torrents. I bought a premium account of Snappy so I dont put myself out there.

Unless they're spying my every move and look into what's inside the file I download they cant know, right?

Directly downloading something through links is the way to go.

Just make sure you're not the source and don't upload for long periods of time over public torrent sites. If you want to upload something wait until there are 5 or more seeds and drop. Even better learn how to mask your IP, which is very easy, especially if you own a router.

    Good news for me then.

I dont do uploads. I mainly download stuff from other people on sites through links only.

You can pay $6-8 a month for a good usenet provider, tbh. If you split accounts among friends, you can cut that in 1/2 or even a 1/4.

    Good luck to them.

Providers thinking they can outsmart hackers who are working around the clock to provide content.

    here's a decent little guide:

    http://lifehacker.com/5601586/how-to...e-simple-steps

Also, www.binsearch.info is your best friend You can search and create NZB's easily. I linked the guide cause I honestly wouldn't know how to start otherwise. My next door neighbors at college in 96 had been on usenet for years already so I just copied them for the most part.

Someone will step in and provide a wireless www access like Clear just plug in the USB and link up with the local cell phone towers that are linked to a satellite dish that is bouncing a signal from another country eliminate the middleman (your ISP) How can you stop people from sharing files through email?

If all else fails we can return to dial up.
