What do you all think about this franchise? I really like the first couple of films but they start sucking toward the end.

I thought Freddy vs Jason sucked.

    thoughts?

New one was decent IMO. Was pretty dark Andy think it at least has potential.

First off, let me be very clear... that piece of mother ing sorry excuse no business having disgrace never should have touched it ty vomit of a remake!! (and that goes for most remakes)

    Now to greatness in horror.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, the originals, Parts 1 and 2 were both real horror and awesome films.

The mistake, in my opinion, is when they started turning them into comedies and kung fu bull . I enjoyed part 3 and all, but when it comes down to horror, the first 2 films are the best of the franchise. If they had only gone back and pretended as if 3 and on didn't exist and continued it as true horror, it could be really great. That's my opinion.

And again, that remake piece of and most others.

first one scared the out of me as a kid. to this day it still bothers me, but i respect its effectiveness. the second one I don't remember but I recall being scared by it as well. I haven't seen Freddy's Revenge in ages but supposedly the editor was a flamer and cut it to emphasize its gayness.

I saw Dream Warriors awhile back and I still dig it, but at that point the series became more of a pop culture franchise than a disturbing horror film. Part of it is the humor, but also the direction. In the first one, it felt more dreamlike, yet also more raw. By part 3, you could tell as soon as they went to a dream sequence, they were using sets that looked like an 80s music video. The first one was very effective at blending that line between what is real and isn't real.

I've never seen part 5, though maybe I should. I thought Freddy vs Jason was alright, not nearly as bad as it could have been.
