Many of you claim we would be better off with a trade, and I agree, but for who? We need a post presence on both sides of the ball other than Timmy, but we also need a strong perimeter defender as well. Not only that, but we could also use a valuable pick and roll defender. It could possibly come down to the area of need that would positively impact the team the most. We all know a trade would help tremendously, but the question is for who? Name a player and tell who you'd trade to get that player.

Spurs feel confident with what they have. That's all that matters, tbh

Ehh who knows. Spurs might be playing it patient but that doesn't mean they wont make a move. Just like trading RJ last season, picking up Diaw, etc.

I actually think the Spurs need to trade for one or more of Houston's forwards if they want them. Houston is going to look to trade them away as opposed to waiving them so that they don't have to eat their contracts. Even if the Rockets decide to just release them, the Spurs would have to worry about losing a waiver claim to another team. Big men are highly coveted in the league, and I could see many teams snapping any worthwhile ones up. The Spurs actually have the advantage of having two non-guaranteed deals they can use to take one or two of the Rockets' guaranteed deals off their hands. Neal & Blair for one of the Rockets' big men would work best.

Or they could swing for the fences: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8r4zpm5

Yeah, not going to happen, but I don't think this trade is entirely ludicrous. With some cash to cover buyouts and a couple of firsts to give to Atlanta, I could see this being an attractive deal for the Hawks. After seeing what most players have been going for, who knows...

    1. Bonner and Neal For Timberwolves N.Pecovic
    2. Jackson and Bonner for Atlantas PF: J.Smith
    3. Bonner for Bobcats B.Mullens and J.Taylor
    4. Jackson and Bonner for Raptors A.Bargnani
    5. Jackson and Bonner for Wizards Nene

I know none of these trades will happen...just a few off the top of my head.

The perimetral defense should be quite fine with Parker, Mills, Cory, Green, Manu, Kawhi and Jack. None can compare with Bowen on defense, but they are all above average defensive players. Diaw should do fine too switching on P&R, but the Spurs still need another above average PF to complete the bigman rotation with Duncan, Diaw and Splitter.

As much as we all love Stephen Jackson, his 10 million expiring contract is probably our only contract worth while that other teams might trade for us to get a difference maker in return.

I think Blair and Neal are also in their last years, but they are both so cheap and productive for the $$$ they are getting paid. But i think their NBA Spurs careers have peaked already even though they've only played a few years.

If we could package Jackson/Blair/Neal we could get a missing piece of our championship puzzle in return

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=99be5ja This would be nice to. Andy has intagables, can defend and rebound and is a pesky prick to play against, always gets loose balls etc. and Thompson is a very lengthy wing defender, who cant shoot just yet, But that could improve us to.

Thats all i can be bothered thinking of. But we could net something nice for a combo of Jax/Neal/Blair. Knowing the Spurs we'll stand pat and see who gets waived around the trade deadline.

I wish, but no. Monroe is one of the best young bigs in the game and getting better and better. Austin Daye is so lengthy and has untapped potential, i really don't know how good he will be or if he can reach his potential (Think Johnathon Bender like) But so far has underachieved and could stay house. But i doubt Pistons bite on Monroe for Neal and our Turd Towers unfortunately.

Al can't defend, but probably he is our best option.

since he's an expiring, there are a few scenarios that could fit, but i'd still prefer varejao all night long..

Varejao is not that much better than Splitter, to give up Jax.

the trade would have to be splitter+ a sg and maybe some filler if needed... they would never take jax, there's simply no value for them in such a trade.. he's far better than splitter on D, he would be a great complement to timmy thanks to his sick rebounding and help defense.. plus he's relatively cheap for a big man with so much experience..

Then, that would make some sense. Splitter is expiring, while Varejao still has got one more year on his contract, so he could be a fit in Cleveland.

How about trading the Mavs; Bonner for E. Curry. Gives the mavs a 3 point shooting white man.

also you have to consider that being a more finesse type, he's the perfect fit alongside a physical pf like tristan thompson, add de colo in and they would have significant value from the trade considering how weak are they at the sg spot. I can't see the cavs sayin no to such a trade.

I wouldn't trade SJax - he's still an assassin in the playoffs and some one has to play SF behind Leonard. Resign him at a reasonable contract as he's happy in SA. He can keep rapping and end his career in SA.

Spurs have very limited options to get a defensive PF. Probably the best thing is to wait and see if they can pick up some one off the waivers. Won't get a good one like Diaw because there's no (French) connection. Would love for them to trade Bonner, Blair and a backcourt player (too crowded now) for some one useful.

    Possible but improbable

I have never seen each teams wins go up by 20+ in a trade scenario.....interesting

Perhaps if it happened, Cleveland could knock Miami out of the playoffs for us
