Taking charge and making sure things got done is "playing politics", because it makes him look presidential.

I will say this about the Bush administration's ups with Katrina. We learned a lot about what NOT to do.
Well, don't know about your grand-children, but some of these people really need it. We can argue about superfluous spending all day, this is likely not one of those cases.

stopping campaign + giving governors a direct line + being on top of things = leadership. To be fair, both Christie and Cuomo should get props too.

Good leadership happened long before the storm made landfall. The same didn't happen with Katrina.
